Risky investment now days. A Chinese takeover of Taiwan would make US, EU and the world completely dependent on china for all modern high performance microchips and short term kill non-china AI industry.

The AI industry is extremely dependent on the advanced chip market and China taking over the the core technology and leaving US, EU and the rest of the world in the wake of their lead is unlikely to go over well with the industry.

The recent attempt to build up a modern US or EU domestic high performance chip industry is a decade too late to manage interruptions.

Both EU and US will very likely strategically act on an invasion with surprising vigor. Chinese AI dominance is a risk to high even for sleepy politicians.

There is likely a strategic reason a US carrier is always stationed in Taiwan to ensure an attack would mean a new Pearl Harbour and a carte Blanche to defend US interests.
