TL;DR: Bitcoin reserve is an exciting idea but it doesn’t meet the requirements of a solid reserve asset itself. The USD’s dominance is built on stability, trust, and liquidity—none of which Bitcoin can currently offer.
Thoughts?
Benjamin Cohen’s “currency statecraft” argues reserve currencies thrive on stability, deep markets, and geopolitical power. BTC? It ticks none of these boxes. Additionally it’s regulatory risk is real and so far no US government was willing to give up monetary monopoly
@AlexLWitt Petrodollar disarmament is definitely worth watching, but the $USD’s #reservecurrency dominance goes far beyond oil - being anchored in deep and trusted financial markets, trade, and US institutions. So yeah, likely more gradual then most of us invest in BTC
@wolfofwolfst Not surprising given geopolitical developments and the use of the the #USD as #statecraft against Russia and others. Especially the development of RMB and diplomatic efforts by #BRICS nations will be determining for the future of the USD
