Watch it and weep. The warnings over Trump and Brexit were unmistakable. The trajectory of the newly rebranded supporters of this intertwined disaster for our country is clear: a project to weaken Britain and cut it adrift from its geographic allies.
£100 billion of trade a year and over a million jobs since Brexit have been lost. We agree with Sir John Major, Brexit is a flop, but now, we must fix it.
Nick Thomas-Symonds, "Boris Johnson realised the Brexit deal was bad once it was explained to him"
"My hunch, he probably accepted the bad consequences but decided ideology mattered more than reality"
"A bit like betting on a losing hand and doubling down"
"The result was the first free trade deal in history that made it harder to trade"
1. Goods exports fall behind
Daniel Hannan said: “Absolutely nobody is talking about threatening our place in the single market.”
But Britain left the single market. In 2024, goods exports to the EU were 18% below 2019 levels in real terms.
Predictions of £40bn hit to public finances from Brexit ‘correct’
Office for Budget Responsibility’s forecast of a 4 per cent productivity loss from leaving the EU has been largely borne out, says top economist

Rachel Reeves says the UK-EU reset will increase GDP by £9 billion a year
Your reminder that the UK being outside a Customs Union and the EU Single Market actually costs us £140 billion a year
£9 billion is better than £0 billion but nowhere near £140 billion - Labour have a long way to go
It is becoming abundantly clear that the EU subsidy scheme was far better for farmers than this on/off subsidy shambles presided over by Defra. #time2rejoinEUSM&CU
The reaction from farming to this is going to be savage and rightly so. To remove BPS and destroy confidence in SFI is a complete betrayal that hurts the most vulnerable. For a Labour government to create so many “haves” and “ have nots” is beyond belief. SFI was a world leading scheme that promised so much but has now been suddenly closed for the 4th time in 3 years. Farming businesses cannot work with such a chaotic department as Defra.
UK goods exports to the EU, adjusted for inflation, hit a 28-year low in December (excluding the pandemic).
Ah, those sunlit uplands! Well done Brexiteers.
‘Mutual free movement’ for UK and EU citizens supported by 84% of Brits, in stunning new poll
Omnisis poll suggests opposition to free movement was based on lack of awareness and the UK government failing to enforce the rules

So the @citylordmayor doesn’t agree with @wesstreeting’s Brexit capitulation.
“Brexit was a disaster,” Mainelli told Reuters. “We had 525,000 workers in 2016. My estimate is that we lost just short of 40,000.”

As always, @dominicgrieve_ provides facts and the truth about his former party’s populist shenanigans.
Leaving the ECHR resurrects no deal Brexit carnage which @BorisJohnson recently claimed he never would’ve been mad enough to do.
Interesting further proof of the deep economic damage wrought by Brexit. Lesson for new Govt is clear: blaming the “last 14 years” may be good politics, but isn’t economically true. It was Brexit in 2016 that threw the UK economy – then fastest growing in the G8 – into reverse. So any attempt at restoring sustainable growth will have to, eventually, confront the European question…
