On Feb. 26, 1988, NYPD Officer Eddie Byrne was shot & killed—ambushed —as he sat in his patrol car guarding a witness. A cop for only 7 months, his murder impacted policing across America. We will #NeverForget his legacy of heroism, service, and sacrifice.

Today, the FBI is increasing its reward up to $100,000 for information leading to the location of Nancy Guthrie and/or the arrest and conviction of anyone involved in her disappearance.
New identifying details about the suspect in the kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie have been confirmed after a forensic analysis of the doorbell camera footage by the FBI’s Operational Technology Division.
The suspect is described as a male, approximately 5’9” - 5’10” tall, with an average build. In the video, he is wearing a black, 25-liter ‘Ozark Trail Hiker Pack’ backpack.
We hope this updated description will help concentrate the public tips we are receiving. Since February 1, 2026, the FBI has collected over 13,000 tips from the public related to this case.
Every tip is reviewed for credibility, relevance, and information that can be acted upon by law enforcement. Threat Intake Examiners at the National Threat Operations Center (NTOC) and FBI personnel are supporting a 24-hour command post in which dozens of agents and investigators are assigned leads and tips to action each shift.
Media outlets should direct tips they receive to the FBI. Additionally, we do not comment on tips and information we receive regarding ongoing investigations.

On Saturday I raced the historic first women's @milansanremo in 20 yrs, my first race back after a long break. I supported my teammate Noemi Ruegg who placed 3rd! Getting this monument on the women’s calendar is a huge milestone, but the men's race had 9x more prize money & more TV coverage. We are still fighting for more equality. For 80 years, the United States government has believed government funded information distributed to people whose governments try to stifle that information--or punish those who obtain it--has been in the national interest.
This began with @VOA, which beamed its first broadcast into the Soviet Union in 1942. It expanded with @RFERL in the 1950s, each of which were initially run by CIA. The goal: send facts over the Iron Curtain to try and win the Cold War.
In the 1980s, the geography expanded: Radio Marti (today the Office of Cuba Broadcasting) reached into Communist Cuba, and @RadioFreeAsia began in the 1990s to reach Asian countries with poor media environments. After 9/11, it expanded to Arabic language Middle East Broadcasting Network, which includes @alhurranews.
And when the information started being blocked by government suppression technology, the US government created the @OpenTechFund, which funded software that allowed dissidents from Iran to China to Venezuela to communicate (@signalapp) and get around firewalls, and Frontline Media Fund, a brand-new incubator designed to create new content distribution, especially in Mandarin

For 51 years, Peter Farley was the heart and soul of the NYPD. He was the ultimate source of joy and kindness, and one of the few things he loved more than his work were the people he worked with.
We're devastated by his passing, and he will be greatly missed by his NYPD family.
