In a league of killers, Jalen Brunson is one of the best winners of his generation. He won two chips at Villanova in three years, and he's made the New York Knicks into NBA champions. At 6-foot-1-ish. He's a great, GREAT basketball player.
Does the average Black person even recognize what we need to be “liberated” from? These days “liberation” just means full and equal access to white institutions, which ultimately requires committed patronage from whites. Black liberation has been completely neo-liberalized.
We keep seeing generation after generation that integration is not a viable liberatory tactic for Black people in the United States. It inevitably always results in a few “making it” within the system, while the system itself remains largely unchanged.
Little does he know, he’s right there with them guys. Matter of fact, when it comes to doing dumb shit that costs his team a chip, is the leader of the pack 🤷🏿♂️
Bill Russell is really the only all timer w/ an “unblemished” resume, and even he lost twice in the playoffs. The thing about MJ’s first six years is he was not expected to win. He was the lower seed in every series he lost, and he didn’t have an all star teammate until 1990.
The MJ PR machine is impressive ngl.
His first 3 postseasons he got bounced first round. Swept twice with a 1-9 total record. Next 3 postseasons all got ended by DET. 6 straight postseasons of belt to ass before his 1st Finals trip and folks will be dead serious when they tell you that’s that’s more impressive than a Finals run in your very 1st postseason.
Like I said it’s reached the point where the PR machine around him is so unapologetically revisionist that it’s actually impressive now.
@TDHBXG I think ppl are questioning whether it’s genuine, or if it is a way to avoid fighting Keyshawn bc of issues reaching that type of agreement. We’ve already seen Dev and Shakur contract talks fold. Adding Shakur to his talks with Key is a bit strange
