"If you're going through something, please talk to somebody. A friend, a parent, a cousin, a coach, or somebody you trust. I carried a lot of hurt and pain for years, unnecessarily. Had I talked to somebody or opened up to someone, I could've cut maybe my burden in half..."

Last Sabbath we kicked off our Fall Revival and in that sermon, entitled "Running on Empty", Pastor @JSNII spoke with us about stress overload and burnout through the story of Elijah.
If you merely echo other people's views, parrot party lines, repeat ideological hype, and don't think for yourself, you will become a caricature of yourself. There's no substitute for personal conviction born of studious thought and prayer. Learn from others without disappearing.
In response to my sermon today at Tacoma Park, this dear elderly sister came up to me and said, โI surmise that we are once an adult and twice a child.โ Wow, it took me 43 minutes to unpack from Scripture what this woman articulated in a single sentence.
When Jesus came into the world, He was overwhelmingly attracted to the disowned, disliked, and disenfranchised: the poor, the sick, the immoral, the used, the depressed, the hurting, the jacked-up and the knocked-down. Thatโs me, so I know Jesus is attracted to me. Hallelujah!
The Sabbath is the antithesis of legalism. It's a weekly portal into the restful grace by which God saves us apart from anything we might do to earn His favor. But we humans are so addicted to legalism that we can even turn God's invitation to rest into the hard work of legalism.
You can easily spot a fool, bcuz โfools find no pleasure in understanding but delight in airing their own opinionsโ (Prov 18:2). Fools are eager for others to hear their opinions but have no interest in understanding others. God, make us wisdom-seekers rather than opinion-pusher!
Happy birthday to the other woman who has my heart โค๏ธ. Canโt believe youโre already 15โผ๏ธ I love you ๐ #happybirthday https://t.co/w1iRaV0zFV
