my view is no, because LLMs are surpassing professional human translators right about now. that is something I can personally attest to as a bilingual English/Chinese speaker. (fwiw, Google Gemini is the best at Chinese translations, even though it's a subpar LLM by any other metric)
the peak premium for a Westerner knowing Chinese was probably 2 years ago. in a couple more years most Westerner-Chinese conversations will simply be done with both sides taking their phones out and using real-time LLM translation. (it's already quite common)
