What a special two days as I was so kindly sent off with best wishes on my new adventure.

Although I am staying with Northwell Health Labs, I’m venturing outside of my home of Cytology into a new exciting role as an advisor for quality.

I had the awesome opportunity to engage with High School students participating in @NorthwellHealth #FutureReadyNYC program and teach them about a rewarding career in #cytology

Their excitement and enthusiasm reminded me of when I first discovered cytology at their age!

I couldn’t agree more! Personally my student loans are the only reason I was able to follow my passion. I have a rewarding career as a cytologist/cytology supervisor, but my student loan debt haunts me. We need to find solutions to help students enter our profession, and stay🔬

We need more options for student loan forgiveness if we want to stop the shortage of laboratory professionals our field is experiencing. ASCP is championing solutions, but there is always more work to be done.

After a week in Arizona exploring Sedona and then attending the ASCP leadership forum in Fort McDowell I returned to work to a great surprise— a new microscope, camera, monitor, and objectives. I’m one happy cytotechnologist 🤓🔬🤗

Cyto-histological correlations: Invasive mucinous adenocarcinoma of the lung. (The term lepidic mucinous carcinoma is obsolete).
Cytology:
🔬Mild atypia
🔬Drunken-honeycomb pattern
🔬No cilia
🔬Abundant intracytoplasmic mucin
🔬A mucinous background may be present
