1 Corinthians quotes from the Gospels a decade after Christ’s death. “Oldest manuscript we have copies of” does not mean “earliest copy ever written”. Many copies written earlier simply destroyed, but quote from them shows they were already known in late 40’s to early 50’s.
Ehrmann has no common sense on things. This would be like all copies of JFK’s biographies were destroyed other than those written in 2000 or later, but a letter sharing excerpts from his speeches from the 70’s were found, and a scholar concluded that we have no contemporary evidence of anything JFK said for certain. Scholars are notorious for forgetting how basic things happen.
@RepThomasMassie@RandPaul Please propose an Amendment to the Constitution to protect people’s rights. “Any company replacing personnel with AI must pay the displaced employee their current wage for twenty years, adjusted each year for inflation, and continue health coverage until the person reaches age for Medicare.”
@elonmusk Proposed Amendment to Constitution: A. I. must be limited to assistance of humanity only and no job done by a human shall be replaced by AI without just compensation being paid to the worker as twenty years full severance with adjustments for inflation and full health benefits for life.
As the next mystery comes up, and before you continue with verbal prayer, think about the story the mystery calls to mind. Think of some moment in that story that is striking you then. Let us say it is Mary when Gabriel visits with the Annunciation. You see in your mind Mary putting her hand to her belly. Just that small gesture. Put your own hand to you belly and experience the wonder and fear and trust Mary is going through. Then begin to pray.
This may help to ground you in the mystery as you proceed through the Rosary.
MAJOR BOMBSHELL OUT OF JAPAN — THEY CAN NO LONGER BURY THIS
Professor Robert Clancy has now released the data:
A large-scale Japanese study of 20 MILLION people revealed that all excess deaths occurred in the vaccinated group.
Zero excess deaths among the unvaccinated. The striking detail: mortality spikes precisely 3 months after each booster — with deaths peaking near 100 days post-vaccination.
The pattern is clear.
In my view, the facts on the COVID vaccine can no longer be suppressed. The data has emerged. The cover-up is breaking down. The world must see this.
I do not care what so called experts have to say on this. Reason and actual facts are enough to show the experts are suffering from long held false narratives and framing and that a new paradigm needs to supplant the failed one. And the recognition of this need is growing in the field, much to the chagrin of those who thought they were in the smart kid club by thinking evolution was a cudgel against faith.
The End of the Affair and The Power and the Glory by Graham Greene. Brideshead Revisited by Waugh. Wise Blood and Everything that Rises Must Converge by Flannery O’Connor. Father Elijah, A Father’s Tale, Theopholis, and others by Michael D. O’Brien. The Ball and the Cross by Chesterton. The Moviegoer by Walker Percy. Then there is poetry like Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales, Pearl and Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Dante and Gerard Manley Hopkins. Moving away from novels there, but still great literature. O’Connor’s short stories may be the best Catholic writing since the Middle Ages.
There are also a few books by Frederick Buechner like Godric, Brendan, and On the Road with the Archangel that are very Catholic in many ways though Buechner himself was not a Catholic.
Each will to varying degrees but most will fail in one or more areas. Mormonism likely to fail in revelation and reality as the findings of archeology disagree with the revelatory claims and history of N. America. Hinduism appears to miss something of conscience to my mind in its collective practice due to its justification of the caste system as their understanding of reincarnation is applied. Islam where human rights and freedom as well as promotion of war are applied. Their vision of the divine as singular leads to a sense of dominion without care leading to submission as response to Allah as opposed to love and received forgiveness as response in Christianity. Evangelical and other Protestant forms of Christianity leave off the more contemplative and ritualistic practices of Orthodoxy and Catholicism, and contain various interpretations of the Bible that are at times too literal to be considered reasonable.
My own conclusion has led me to Catholicism, yet human nature being what it is the members of the Catholic Church do not always follow the teachings or practices or moral principles well or consistently. This leaves one with a sense of challenge but avoids the other more glaring errors in other religions.
Worldviews that are not strictly religious have their own failings.
