This is a long-term investment. Residents trained in Michigan will continue to practice in the state after residency. Competitive salaries are needed to recruit the best and brightest medical graduates from all over the country.
Proud of @hoaumich for continuing to fight for fair wages for residents caring for patients @umichmedicine. I'm hopeful hospital admins & regents will demonstrate their support of our efforts w/ a fair wage increase to keep up w/ inflation!

Hundreds of resident physicians showed up this morning to demonstrate we can and will act as one. We've been transparent with the administration on what we need to get this deal done... so let's get it done! @umichmedicine#HOATheRealMichiganDifference#MedTwitter#UnionStrong
@JordanAckerMI@UMich We hope this means some progress can be made at our next session. To date the HOA has been completely transparent. Admin continues to play the incremental shell game and seems to be running out the clock
A new cohort of residents starts in less than a month, Let’s get this done!
Technical excellence, dedication, and hard work can only be translated into exceptional medical care if the working conditions in medicine are equally elevated. We are dedicated to raising these standards for our peers, the next generation of physicians, and all of our patients.

The union is invaluable to a better work environment for residents. I got involved to make things better for everyone who comes after me and look forward to very successful negotiations and a FAIR contract.
