@AllTracDaily@butala_aryan@elonmusk@SawyerMerritt@KanekoaTheGreat In Aus starlink offers 100mbps plan at the same price as a typical 500mbps plan for fibre or coaxial.
For rural areas where a fixed line isn’t available starlink is amazing. But all other situations starlink is not competitive.
@AllTracDaily@butala_aryan@elonmusk@SawyerMerritt@KanekoaTheGreat Also if both operate at the speed of light, the physical distance still matters for latency. Light transmitting around the surface of the planet is short and therefore quicker than light transmitting around the circumference of the planet at orbital height.
@stolgic@elonmusk@SawyerMerritt@KanekoaTheGreat 10k robots in a factory would make sense to just be connected via wifi to one super fast fibre optic connection.
Tractor robots out on a farm, sure.
100% situation dependant.
@butala_aryan@elonmusk@SawyerMerritt@KanekoaTheGreat Since fibre operates at the speed of light, I don’t think starlink will ever outperform it. Maybe the only way is Grok becomes recursively self improving and discovers new physics to bypass the speed of light. But if that happens I don’t think we’ll be comparing internet speeds.
@GreenGlencoe Do you think model 3 will get an update for 2027 year model? (Even if just a minor update - feature parity with model Y/L)
First update as 2021 ~3 years
Second update was 2024 ~3 years
Third update 2027 ~3years ?
@BaillesJb@sydney_ev Pointing out a direct correlation of lower cost when renewables are producing vs higher cost when renewables aren’t producing, isn’t the win you think it is.
@Lukeofthejungle@cosma_tony@SupportPauline The fact is many people have backed solar with their own money because it makes financial sense.
And now you want to tax them and force them to pay for nuclear. You sound like a commie.
No energy company should receive handouts from the gov. Not renewables, not any others
@Lukeofthejungle@cosma_tony@SupportPauline Everyone is doing it. Just look at everyone’s roof, almost all of them have solar.
And also look at off peak electricity rates. 20 years ago off peak was late night hours, but now it’s the midday hours because of that solar.
@tommysweats@GnySgtKabar Yeah so because the people who don’t like it are complaining, and the people who don’t think it’s a big deal are not complaining, they should obviously make the change. That’s the whole point.
@tommysweats@GnySgtKabar But it actually is because if they have hit markers on by default, the devs design with it in mind, rather than making cool and immersive animations etc. Hence the brutes awkwardly show no feedback when shot. Completely ruining the experience. It matters.
