@NewbergReport Do you equate the infield shift and the trash can spying in the same way? I genuinely feel like framing this as “cheating” is disingenuous, even if it’s just “asking questions.” One of them is finding an advantage within the rules. The other is going outside of the rules.
@NewbergReport In baseball terms, is it “cheating” when one team learns an umps tendencies and intentionally pitches to their larger/smaller strike zone? Would that team then be “cheating,” or just playing baseball? (Of course, this example is pre-ABS.)
@NewbergReport I don’t see how the word “cheating” can be used here at all. That would imply that the Thunder are controlling when the ref makes a call. They don’t. The refs made mistakes. It happens and that’s part of the game. Both teams have to adjust to the refs each game.
@SamQuinnCBS Personally, I would take pieces from the MLB draft lotto. Specifically, you aren’t eligible for the lottery if you’ve already won a pick in 2 consecutive drafts. If you aren’t eligible, your pick is just locked at 5+. No moving up. It could help prevent multi-year tank jobs.
So we all agree that this should be used as a plot device for a new sequel (Big Grandpa?) where Julian knocks up someone during the Blue Jays World Series appearance? @AdamSandler
@robertmays 100%. I still have the call from this Seager HR pop into my head on a regular basis. “Could tie it here with one swing… HIGH DRIVE, IT’S TIED!” Chills every single time!
