Today I'm launching
"The Joshua Test."
On 29 January 2026, my 23-year-old son Joshua died after a communal safety railing at his home gave way causing him to fall from the 5th floor at his home at Thurston Dwellings, Newton Street, Holborn, London WC2B 5EP causing fatal injuries.
This is a property managed by Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association.
No family should ever have to receive that phone call or like his father witness it.
Out of that tragedy comes a simple question that every landlord, housing association, managing agent and regulator ought to be able to answer:
⚠️If this railing, balcony or barrier failed tomorrow, could you demonstrate it had been physically tested and certified as safe?
If the answer is no, we have a gap in our system.
That's why I am publishing The Joshua Test, a policy proposal calling for mandatory physical safety testing ( Stress Testing ) of balconies, communal railings, barriers and other fall-prevention structures in and on residential buildings.
This isn't about blame.
It is about prevention.
Current guidance is not enough. Guidance can be ignored. Legislation creates accountability and saves lives. The proposal calls for mandatory inspection cycles, certification, reporting of structural defects, independent inspection of higher-risk properties and meaningful enforcement where organisations fail to comply.
I hope this starts a constructive conversation with parliamentarians, housing providers, regulators, engineers, campaigners and anyone working in building safety.
Joshua cared deeply about people.
If this campaign prevents just one family from experiencing what ours has, then his legacy will continue to protect others.
If this issue is relevant to your work, I'd welcome the opportunity to connect, discuss the proposal and explore how we can strengthen it together.

I need help! My son Griffin Wallace Higgs was diagnosed with cancer at 18. He died in Nov 2025. He was 28. In addition to arranging his funeral, closing his bank accounts, transferring his assets, cancelling his cell phone and myriad other tasks no parent should have to think about I have been trying to deal with @Ticketmaster to get the @foofighters tickets he purchased months ago. I have the order number for the 4 tickets he purchased. I have a letter from a lawyer saying I’m his next of kin. Ticketmaster refuses to access the tickets. They are essentially stealing from his estate. If the bank withheld his account and money it would be fraud. @Ticketmaster told me to get a lawyer. This cannot be the process. This cannot be just. Someone please help. All that remains now is for his brothers to enjoy this concert at @Rogers_Stadium leaving his seat empty in his honour. Someone? Anyone? Has anyone had to deal with this insanity while grieving? @CBCCanada
This is a disgrace.
A Gulf War Marine veteran named Albert O’Toole who served this country, took a blast that left him with TBI, and was later diagnosed with Alzheimer’s was beaten by his aide Matthew Cox inside the New York State Veterans Home in Montrose, New York.
His wife Angela Sangro became concerned after seeing unexplained bruises and heavy sedation. She installed a hidden camera. The footage shows the aide yanking food out of Albert’s hands, grabbing him by the neck, throwing him into a chair, punching him, and striking him in the head with a broom while he cried out in pain. No one came to help.
The state fired the abuser.
But the federal VA? Still has him employed. Still paying him while the case drags on.
You make veterans fight through hell just to get the benefits and compensation they earned with their blood and sacrifice. You move fast to cut or reduce what’s owed to them.
But when one of your own is caught on camera assaulting a defenseless veteran? You keep him on the federal payroll like it’s nothing.
@SecVetAffairs you talk about accountability. Here it is. Fire this man from the VA now. No pay. No protection. No more dragging it out.
@SecWar our warriors come home broken from fighting for this nation. They deserve better than a system that protects abusers while making veterans fight for every dollar they earned.
@SpeakerJohnson this is on you too. Oversight without teeth is just theater. Do your job.
This isn’t how you treat the men and women who served. This is a betrayal.
Veterans FIRST.
Zero tolerance for those who abuse them.
Immediate action. No excuses.
If you’re not outraged by this, you’re not paying attention.
Semper Fi.

You work hard every day and can’t afford to live in London. You can’t afford the £500,000 starting price for a one bedroom flat. You have to commute in and waste more of your life on trains. I’ll tell you who can afford to live in London: Afghans who can’t speak a word of English and have just arrived. Somalis who have never done a day’s honest graft in their lives and never will. Pakistanis who hate this country and also can’t speak a word of English. Millions and millions and millions of these people can afford to live in the middle of London and never work. It’s almost like something is wrong with the system.
🚨 A single mum was terrorised in her home by immigrants living next door
UK Police did nothing about the incidents, they threatened to arrest the mum for 'inciting racial hatred' if she went to the press
She contacted me to shine a light on her case, I put a post out on X and they arrested me, confiscated my phone and put me on strict bail conditions for 3 months
This is what you call two-tier policing in the UK
(PLEASE SHARE) I’m not exactly sure when police were allowed to start punching people in the face especially while handcuffed and detained! That’s assault #police#policebrutality
The big question we should all be asking is why has Keir Starmer given Ukraine £21billion of OUR money whilst leaving our own armed forces depleted?
There should be an investigation into this.
His duty is to the UK
A small ask for @elonmusk, from a small English family business.
There's a handle, @MadeInEngland, dormant for ~14 years. It would mean the world for what we're building, a home for English makers.
The official route is priced for companies rather larger than ours.
Any chance?
Arsenal, one of England’s big football clubs, just donated a pile of their players’ old socks to a horse and donkey sanctuary, and the rescued animals are now wearing them.
It works because modern football socks are footless. Players wear separate grip socks on their feet, so the long sleeves get thrown out. That shape turns out to be perfect for sliding onto an animal’s leg, where they keep flies off sore skin, hold bandages in place, and cover the leg while hooves are trimmed.
The sanctuary, the biggest of its kind in Britain, says the bright red socks have already cut down on vet visits. The donkeys have also decided they make good toys, and have taken to pulling bananas out of them.
We owe those who serve the UK the kit to do the job and the loyalty to stand by them when it's done. We are failing on both.
I’ve spent my whole time in government making that case. Number 10 will not listen, so I am resigning as Minister for the Armed Forces.

This is Reece Robinson 21. He throw stones towards a police officer at the Southampton protests. The stones never hit the officers. He’s now been put in prison for 2 years.
Yet a man previously housed at Wethersfield brutally attacked 2 security guards - walks free
Yet a man housed at Wethersfield sexually assaults a nurse - walks free
Yet a man housed at at Wethersfield punched a women - currently on bail and free to go to Chelmsford or Colchester
Yet a man housed at Wethersfield stabbed another man with scissors - 3 months in a young offenders
Perverts are avoiding jail daily.
Make that make sense ?
I came home from work last Thursday to a letter from HMRC - "Dear Mr xxx, we screwed your PAYE code up 3yrs ago. You owe us £3302". Letter was dated 21st May but only received on 4th June. They claim to have sent a previous 'reminder' at end of March, never received owt. They claim to have sent a calculation explaining how I owed it in November last year, never received that either. In any case, three fuckin years ago!!! 🤬
After spending over 1.5hrs on hold Friday morning only to get cut off, and nearly 2hrs again this morning, I finally got through to someone. I'm now £91.78 a month worse off for the next 3yrs, because of course I can fuckin afford that. Bloody boiler's been losing pressure every other day for nearly a year, finally managed to save up £400 to get it fixed, was going to be booking repair today, that's out the fuckin window. As is the summer holiday with the kids to a basic caravan in Great Yarmouth. Absolute bunch of cunts. 🤬😢
Words can't express how much I absolutely HATE HMRC. Especially knowing exactly where my taxes are going - scroungers, foreigners, foreign aid, bastard Ukraine, the list goes on and on. I utterly despise every single government we've had for my entire adult life (I'm 47). I'd probably despise the ones before that too but I wasn't paying much attention when I was a kid.

Two days after Henry died Hampshire Police secretly recorded Digwa in a police van speaking Punjabi to his brother. Digwa admitted stabbing Henry. Discussed claiming self defence. Made zero mention of racial abuse. Not one word.
Hampshire Police had that tape.
They knew Digwa was lying about the racist attack. They had the evidence. They had his own words and then tried to smear Henry as the aggressor anyway.
Three days after his death their statement read “it was reported two men had been assaulted by an unknown man.” Henry was the unknown man. The boy bleeding out on the street. They flipped it.
Family complained. Statement changed. Then police told the family their NEXT update would again infer Henry was the initial aggressor. His family had to fight them a second time. While grieving their murdered son.
Then during the trial Hampshire tried to issue a statement telling the public to stop talking about it online. Calling it disinformation. The CPS had to step in. Told them they were about to collapse their own murder case.
This is the force that handcuffed a dying boy. Missed the murder weapon twice. Had a secret tape proving the killer lied. And still tried to bury Henry's name.
That's not incompetence. That's a machine protecting itself. At the expense of a dead boy's reputation and three officers are still on active duty. Not suspended. Treated as witnesses. To their own actions.
Hampshire Police didn't just fail Henry on that street. They kept failing him for six months after he died.
