@merelydovely @dieworkwear There’s also the cost of debt. Vimes, via Lady Syble, was rich and didn’t have to borrow money; middling businesses could borrow at reasonable rates. Vimes before Syble couldn’t borrow at all. The poorer one is, the higher the risk of default, the more expensive credit is.
