@raspy_aspie@aethelwer@RichardHanania You know deaf people are real and not fucking unicorns, right? Why not pop over to their online spaces and ask them how they feel about it?
Lukewarm take: y’all should be a lot more mad at public health than you currently are
They sold us out for corporate profits, and you and I are paying for it with our health
Artists, writers, filmmakers: Please integrate COVID into your cultural work. Avoiding COVID in your content erases a critical part of history. And we all know what horrible things can happen when we as a society fail to learn from history.
@ApocChronicles I'll give this chucklefuck one more engagement to tell y'all stop commenting on this obvious rage bait designed to whip his fellow 9th-grade dropouts into a frenzy.
@AdamCrigler The “fuck you, got mine” attitude Americans think is “human nature” is just bullshit we tell outselves so we don’t feel about about acting like assholes. It isn’t normal and in societies that know that, you get this.
2016 me vs 2024 me
I am immunocompromised in both photos.
I was dying in 2016. Antibiotics largely stopped keeping bacterial infections in check, high fever was my norm. My skin was pale gray. I slept 14+ hours a day. I didn’t know if I would live to see 37 years old. It was easy to spot the symptoms of my primary immunodeficiency.
I don’t look immunocompromised now (even though I definitely am) _because_ my antibody levels are kept at healthy levels due to weekly IgG infusions. I look healthy and energetic. I rarely get sick, both due to infusions and living in isolation.
I wear an N95 outdoors. I wear a PAPR and an N95 underneath whenever I need in-person care. I value my current health because I remember what slowly dying feels like.
I will never understand why people would rather relinquish their immune function than wear a respirator and clean the air with HEPA/far-UV.
Just wear a damn respirator. Make public spaces safer for everyone. Protect your health.
