Found an old picture of me as a kid at a JW party where they had us reenact Noah’s ark. I used to hate that every get together had to have a bible lesson like just let me eat my cupcake in peace Sister Williams!
When I was about 7 or 8 my worldly Aunt babysat me and I helped her decorate her Christmas tree. I loved it but felt so terribly guilty after. Thinking back I’m so grateful to her now for letting me have that experience once as a child.
@cedarsjwsurvey Does anyone know what the deal with the US is? Are they staying consistent bc of children being born into the religion or are people actually joining?
@SableSpitfire@HaughMartin@LilyPlum2 They do they just predicted it would’ve happened by now so they have to find ways to keep people from questioning why they were wrong.
One of my JW friends who had particularly strict parents had a secret box she kept under her bed that was filled with clothes her parents would never have let her wear. She wore them under layers of other clothes until she got to her friends house or school etc.
@irish_baby88 Oh wow. I’m sorry that happened to you! Yea I think it’s very traumatizing for kids and a lot of older jw’s dont realize bc they either weren’t raised in it or they had a much more relaxed experience growing up.
I never dated other JWs I always found the chaperone thing very annoying and weird especially for the grown men and women who were dating! Anyone have any funny JW dating stories?
@irish_baby88 Yes I have noticed that too about a lot of JW’s. Everything is about appearances, physical but also appearing like good people appearing like the perfect JW etc. I always dated worldly people too and realized it was for the best. If I had married a JW I may have never left.
@MDPriestley1 I would always think that too but try to justify that god would read their hearts and they would make it. Very traumatizing stuff to think about as a kid.
As a kid playing with barbies I used to pretend it was Armageddon and there was a flood and all my barbies had to get on a boat (aka my parent’s shoes). Thinking about this now makes me sad lol.
