@JustineBateman If by Axon you mean the police body cameras I must differ. These have been very effective to putting the lie to nearly all claims of police misconduct and excessive use of force. I think their adoption may be what ended the BLM scam.
You don't have to be crazy. Just be uneducated, misinformed, a movie star, and a genuine, certified, honest-to-God Canadian high school graduate. This makes you confident that your wisdom and insight must be shared with the world.
I can't wait for him to tell us how the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo caused the Great Depression.
If psychiatric opinion evidence had to meet the standards of all other evidence, it would not be admitted in any trial. There are no studies which demonstrate it to be reliable in the slightest.
Psychiatrists MIGHT have something to offer if they testify about a person's mental state at the time they examined him. Their opinions on past mental states and their predictions of future conduct are worthless and should not be allowed as evidence in trials.
What is your solution to this, Professor? Should we just remove any power from Distric Court judges to impose nationwide injunctions? What is the argument against limiting courts to remedies which affect only the specific parties before the court?
For forum-shoppers, Talwani has in the past proven to be something of a one-stop option. Her record reaffirms the rationale for justices in using the emergency docket, or so-called “shadow docket” to deter gaming the system... https://t.co/eqsGABrl36
@WallStreetMav Your post is nonsense. You don't know any more about the jury's deliberations than anyone else. People will know what is going on after it's over, and then only if jurors tell them.
The practice of the judiciary adding charges in the form of what are known as 'lesser included offenses' violates the separation of powers. Cases should be tried on the charges filed - not on charges added by a judge at the urging of the defendant.
The judge in the Clancy trial has issued a surprising ruling that the jurors will be given an instruction on the option of a manslaughter conviction as another option. It is a win for the defense to allow for a compromise verdict, but it may produce an unintelligible verdict...
The Wintrust Arena is owned by a government entity, the MPEA. Thus Enes Kanter Freedom was banned from this public space because the Chicago Sky does not like the fact that he disagrees with them about men in women's sports. Unlawful viewpoint discrimination.
Chicago Sky owner Michael Alter says Enes Kanter Freedom became a “potential threat” when he stepped toward the court, defending the decision to eject him without warning.
Asked why Freedom wasn’t warned first, Alter compared it to shooting a gun: “Certain threats don’t get warnings.”
The book is replete with important ideas. That it is not the easiest to read novel is of no consequence. The ideas are what mattered when it was released, and they matter more today than they did in 1957.
@KeenanPeachy Can't wait to read them. Reminds me of an old favorite T-shirt I had which read: "You're just jealous because the voices only talk to me." Maybe you need one of these.
@JonathanTurley Do you think it is a coincidence that these lies benefitted only leftist candidates? I think they are quite likely just in-kind, unreported campaign contributions. Such things can be crimes.
This judge is misusing her office. Visa decisions are an Executive decision - the epitome of what is known as a "nonjusticiable issue." She knows but ignores this, substituting her will instead.
Impeachment and removal of judges like her has become a critical issue in the Trump era, but the standard set forth in the Constitution is too high.
All federal courts, except the Supreme Court, are creations of Congress. Congress has control over their jurisdiction. Congress should act to remove from federal district court judges, such as Ms. Vargas, any power to issue any orders except those which concern the parties before them in a particular case. There should be no nationwide injunctive power and no power to issue orders which have any effect beyond the specific parties who are before the court.
I spent a career as a state court trial judge. I respect the role of judges. But these district court judges have become a ruling cabal, loosely organized but dedicated to the idea that they, not the People's elected President, must decide any and all important issues. Trial judges are minor government officials. They must not be allowed to set national policies.
The Supreme Court is ill equipped to deal with this, one appeal at a time. Congress has the power. Let's hope it acquires the backbone.
🚨 Federal Judge Jeannette Vargas just struck down Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s 75-country immigrant visa freeze.
She called the government’s defense “an exercise in Orwellian logic” and ruled the blanket nationality based ban “patently unlawful.”
The policy is vacated nationwide and visa denials based solely on it are set aside.
More interference as expected. Time to impeach!
@jdmiles11 Nor does there need to be. This judge heard a motion, considered the evidence and arguments, and denied it. He doesn't need the spotlight. He doesn't need to have his 15 minutes of fame. Just did the job and moved on.
@WomanDefiner Mitt Romney has to be the most disappointing presidential candidate of my lifetime. Whenever he said or did something conservative it was just a facade. As a senator he was no different - no spine, no beliefs. He was happy just to be in the show.
