🔸Back in 1987 when the Constitution was amended to allow for the direct election of the President, Edison Zvobgo made a compelling case for direct election. He observed that this direct election process was core to “one man, one vote” and denounced the notion of a parliamentary executive as being divorced from the people.
It’s a pity @ZANUPF_Official no longer has intellectual muscle of this caliber. They cannot even have a sound cerebral debate. Varikubatirana pfuti nekunyima vanhi secret ballot in their desperation to rail road a brainless amendment that will ruin the remaining embers of our democracy.
They’ve been reduced to mbingarism, cash for votes and cars for loyalty. They leave their brains at the door. Intellect has been replaced by paid trolls who flip flop according to the highest bidder. Of it’s not paid activism, then it’s a predatory elite that’s stolen so much they’re consumed by the pandemic of conspicuous consumption - spending money meant for basic services on their personal largesse.
Ndozvamakaendera kuhondo here izvi? Our true heroes must be turning in their graves. Did their blood go to waste?
It’s a mess.
We need new leaders.🇿🇼
This isn’t a “Chinese problem.” It’s a governance problem.
If rules can be bought, someone’s selling.
2️⃣ Every destroyed riverbed tells a local story — a signature, a bribe, a blind eye.
Foreign miners only exploit the vacuum we created.
3️⃣ Blaming outsiders has become a fashionable, convenient self-deception.
Environmental destruction thrives because enforcement is selective and oversight compromised.
4️⃣ The reform we need isn’t about nationality — it’s about integrity.
Until our institutions stop trading ecological integrity for quick cash, nothing will change.
5️⃣ The Chinese didn’t destroy our mountains and rivers.
Our signatures did.
For years, we’ve blamed the Chinese for destroying our environment through mining.
But the truth is harder to face — the real culprits are locals.
Local officials sign the licences.
Local elites pocket the “facilitation fees.”
Local silence allows rivers to turn into sludge.
The Chinese didn’t corrupt our system — they found it already for sale.

Zimbabwean actress Tinopona Katsande shares her experiences and concerns about the dire state of hospitals in Zimbabwe. She says patients are being discharged without receiving proper treatment, and there is a severe shortage of medication. She posted the following on her Facebook page:
Listen, SOMETHING'S GOT TO GIVE!! I dare say it's like some kind of genocide zvirikuitika muma gvt hospitals edu. Yes, I SAID IT. Please don't come at me with threats and scares bla bla KUINBOX kwangu because handisikunyepa ba.

ZERO, DENG, ZILTCH, NADA, PARIBE, NOTHING to save the life of a 16-year-old girl with asthma.
Ukuwo ma newspaper anoti don't worry 6 months supply of ARVS in the country availed, 2 months later vakuti 2 months supply available — meaning 6 months supply was a hoax???

Ndapedza —As you were maZimbabwean... as you were... ngatingoramba tichitaura "zvakawoma", tochema to tarisa kuside and life goes on because shuwa, ndiwe doctor here — no, saka 🤷🏽♀️.
They have not defied anything. They are rained on everyday as they till their fields. They are rained on as they sleep in their substandard huts. They are rained on kuMasowe as they seek an escape from their troubles. This to them is not sacrifice. This is a way of life. This is what you promised to change. This is what you have failed to change. This is evidence of your incompetence and the fact that you raise it as a positive shows your sadism.
1)The regime passed into law the Private Voluntary Organizations Amendment Act No 1 of 2025 on Friday 11 April 2025.This law is a psychotic fascist piece of legislation that no self respecting government can pass. The law betrays deep levels of fear paranoia & vacuousness .
President Emmerson Mnangagwa now needs to rest. If he had people who genuinely cared about him, they would not let him carry on like this.
It is no longer just an embarrassment to him, but to Zimbabwe as a nation. He is clearly unwell due to old age.
To imagine that some people wanted him to carry on until 2030, when he is like this five years before then, is clearly cruel and opportunistic.
I have always said here that the president is 86 years old, not 82. He was born in 1938—it is clearly self-evident.
He did not know that the national team plays home games in other countries. He did not know that there is no longer a passenger train service between Harare and Bulawayo. It is sad to watch.
🔸“I cannot overemphasize the need for our leaders to create an ecosystem for investment because people like me stepping forward and going out to raise billions of dollars to buy these chips, we can only go to where it is investor friendly.
We won't come back and tell you your investment environment doesn't work.
We just walk away.
So we've got to talk to each other. You've got to listen to what we feel we need to comfortably raise the capital to do this."
-Strive Masiyiwa
Ethical, competent leaders will take heed. Vene will arrogantly ignore this caution and continue on their trail of destruction. It’s a mess.
We need new leaders.🇿🇼
Winky D releases new song Propaganda
Everytime Winky D releases anything we will show him support, he is our voice
Like and retweet to piss off his critics
I agree, @ProfPMavima, but for citizen participation to be meaningful, it requires competent leaders who listen to the needs of the people, innovators and investors .
One of our very own success stories, billionaire businessman Strive Masiyiwa, has partnered with Nvidia to bring supercomputer technology to the continent by building Africa’s first artificial intelligence factory in South Africa.
What does that say about the lack of confidence in Zimbabwe by global investors?
You are at the AI summit in Kigali with Strive Masiyiwa, Professor Arthur Mutambara, and one of the summit’s co-chairs, another Zimbabwean is Dr James Manyika, the Vice-President of Google.
Why are all these compatriots giving Zimbabwe a wide berth despite being our own? Should we not first create a conducive environment that attracts talent, as Kigali has been doing?
How do we achieve that when leaders in technical positions offer nothing but party slogans and platitudes to the appointing authority instead of engaging meaningfully with citizens, as you are refreshingly doing today?
Even if they tried, how could they succeed when they are not qualified for the tasks that come with such technical offices?
I hope you will engage with Rwanda’s ICT minister, Prof, as she will tell you that a group of Zimbabweans, including myself, will be setting up a multimillion-dollar BOT operation that will create more than a thousand jobs inside twelve months.
We were able to do this because of Rwanda’s enabling environment, which promotes technology, investment, and job creation—not party slogans.
We did not pay any public officials bribes, and nobody in the Rwandan government asked us to employ their relatives.
This reinforces the central point you raised in your original tweet!
I hope we can continue having more of these constructive discussions instead of party slogans and bootlicking by your colleagues.
Enjoy the summit, Prof, and take notes from your counterparts! Zimbabwe deserves better and it can be an AI hub if the political leadership focus on the right things instead of slogans and dancing at rallies. Thank you for engaging!
@LynneStactia Imagine a President who doesn't know that NRZ last ran Passenger Trains about 7 years ago saka tirikuitei worse off many times we see him appointing Board Members. Recently @MhonaFelix won the best Minister award in a country with no functional railway system. Is this normal?
Cde Geza said ED has become incapacitated. His mental health is no longer fit for office. He is suffering from vascular dementia. Criminals around him are using him to sign important documents/even to fire army generals. They have taken the issue to parliament for an impeachment
ED in all his speeches, as long as he is talking about something that is not written down, he forgets what he is talking about and he is always asking his aides to remind him, he forgets even dates and places. We have long questioned his mental capacity, but his bootlickers always take his forgetfulness as a joke… Tirikutongwa nemunhu arikumhanya mushini 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
