🔸Back in 1987 when the Constitution was amended to allow for the direct election of the President, Edison Zvobgo made a compelling case for direct election. He observed that this direct election process was core to “one man, one vote” and denounced the notion of a parliamentary executive as being divorced from the people.

They’ve been reduced to mbingarism, cash for votes and cars for loyalty. They leave their brains at the door. Intellect has been replaced by paid trolls who flip flop according to the highest bidder. Of it’s not paid activism, then it’s a predatory elite that’s stolen so much they’re consumed by the pandemic of conspicuous consumption - spending money meant for basic services on their personal largesse.

Hamuna mishonga, hamuna mibhedha, the hospital staff gives different or inadequate information or diagnosis about a patient (pano to ita confusion pachavo because vanenge vangori tuzu tuzi also not knowing how to tell a desperate patient: "We know what needs to be done but sorry we can't help, we don't have what we need to save you" — basically.

Then kwaMutoko, a lower 6 student passed ku hospital because she had an asthma attack and chipatara CHESE did not have oxygen / nebulizer what what, kana even ka asthma pump kaye kaunotenga in any pharmacy to help people with asthma to breathe. ZERO, DENG, ZILTCH, NADA, PARIBE, NOTHING to save the life of a 16-year-old girl with asthma.

Ukuwo ma newspaper anoti don't worry 6 months supply of ARVS in the country availed, 2 months later vakuti 2 months supply available — meaning 6 months supply was a hoax???

Then to top it off — maclinic hobo are saying HAPANA MAPIRITSI ACHO ANYWAY 😱😱😱😱🤬.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa now needs to rest. If he had people who genuinely cared about him, they would not let him carry on like this.

It is no longer just an embarrassment to him, but to Zimbabwe as a nation. He is clearly unwell due to old age.

To imagine that some people wanted him to carry on until 2030, when he is like this five years before then, is clearly cruel and opportunistic.
I have always said here that the president is 86 years old, not 82. He was born in 1938—it is clearly self-evident.

He did not know that the national team plays home games in other countries. He did not know that there is no longer a passenger train service between Harare and Bulawayo. It is sad to watch.

I agree, @ProfPMavima, but for citizen participation to be meaningful, it requires competent leaders who listen to the needs of the people, innovators and investors .

One of our very own success stories, billionaire businessman Strive Masiyiwa, has partnered with Nvidia to bring supercomputer technology to the continent by building Africa’s first artificial intelligence factory in South Africa.

What does that say about the lack of confidence in Zimbabwe by global investors?
You are at the AI summit in Kigali with Strive Masiyiwa, Professor Arthur Mutambara, and one of the summit’s co-chairs, another Zimbabwean is Dr James Manyika, the Vice-President of Google.

Why are all these compatriots giving Zimbabwe a wide berth despite being our own? Should we not first create a conducive environment that attracts talent, as Kigali has been doing?

How do we achieve that when leaders in technical positions offer nothing but party slogans and platitudes to the appointing authority instead of engaging meaningfully with citizens, as you are refreshingly doing today?
Even if they tried, how could they succeed when they are not qualified for the tasks that come with such technical offices?

I hope you will engage with Rwanda’s ICT minister, Prof, as she will tell you that a group of Zimbabweans, including myself, will be setting up a multimillion-dollar BOT operation that will create more than a thousand jobs inside twelve months.

We were able to do this because of Rwanda’s enabling environment, which promotes technology, investment, and job creation—not party slogans.
We did not pay any public officials bribes, and nobody in the Rwandan government asked us to employ their relatives.
