@jonathan_wilke Honestly question the tech literacy of anyone who doesn’t get why a cli is still important. The best interfaces are GUI’s that include command lines
@Kais3rP@shzhv13@JunaidAckroyd The key here is that most people generating messy human needs don’t even understand how to communicate them clearly enough to get an Ai to solve it with software. Bring robotics into it and you have a super power compared to them
@mark_petereit@jeremymstamper Except it cost a lot of money to lasso asteroid, more to bring it back, and more to process it and start selling the metal. It won’t affect the scarcity until it gets into circulation and it’ll cost a lot of money to get it into circulation and even then the release can be slow
@d29756183 This is exactly the kind of delusion that comes from thinking a computer is conscious. This is why it’s important to understand how and why it isn’t conscious and what might make it conscious. You basically got upset by pretending a stuffed animal is alive.
@BookAnonJeff@ShamashAran It can but it would be a bad design given all of the different use cases of the particular niche that I inhabit (lighting design). It’s not even a question, the software itself isn’t enough sometimes and requires specialized hardware to do the job properly.GUI is one of many tools
@BookAnonJeff@ShamashAran I work with software that has a gui and also a command line interface that work together which enable you to perform very powerful and specific instructions very fast. The gui without the command interface couldn’t do it. The cli alone would be too esoteric. Both are necessary
@blind_via That did occur to me as I was sending my reply. A very rough and quick price comparison shows me very few monitors of similar size and they are much more expensive…
@beffjezos@scottsullivan You can simulate it but if consciousness is linked to physical processes and chemistry/geometry then a simulation on current computer hardware is not going to create or harness qualia
@MancerAI_@ai_sentience If the superposition collapse happens with every particle interaction then wouldn’t that be something happening at the scale you just mentioned?
@MancerAI_@ai_sentience Everything we know about consciousness depends on physical geometry, chemistry, biology, and probably quantum superstition collapse. Software can only simulate that, never replicate it.
@MancerAI_@ai_sentience Software is a virtual representation of instructions waiting to be calculated. There is no analog to software in the brain. DNA is inherently geometric, the brain circuits are geometric, cells geometric, chemistry is largely about the geometry of chemicals.
@MancerAI_@ai_sentience Personally I think it’s more likely harnessed I include “generated” to appease people and to indicate that human consciousness is some very high level abstraction incorporating many moments of discrete qualia into a single coherent experience over time. Ultimately, there is no…
