@willnorman Great news that this campaign has been ‘paused’ as part of the review questions need to be asked in terms of how the brief was phrased and also how this content was signed off and released.
@lovewestdulwich@NataschaDowney @_tiils @RealOneDulwich@CleanAirDulwich But the point above was that it isn’t a bus route - the timing wasn’t that busses are hindered, just that there is no direct bus. We are never going to get to the point where there is an east, quick bus between all points people want to travel
@NataschaDowney @_tiils @RealOneDulwich@CleanAirDulwich We also have to be realistic in terms of transport funding and feasibility, we need to find ways of enabling people to do those short journeys in ways that don’t involve them individually driving as it is unsustainable
@NataschaDowney @_tiils @RealOneDulwich@CleanAirDulwich It’s tricky sometimes but not everyone is in that scenario, or even the case that those who are want to switch to public transport if only it was better. Pt is never going to be as easy as private cars so looking to replicate their convenience is just unsustainable
So for all the ‘who are you to judge which journeys are essential’ commentators, perhaps this is a case study as to what is possible if non essential journeys are eliminated?
@benedictevans@joshwilburne In which case you’re talking about a very small subset of people. Or alternatively you’ve fallen into the trap of equating a decision to choose private schooling with having no choice but to drive! Both are nonsensical as there are choices in either scenario
@DulwichReopen @mattRey79 @DulwichCleanAir@lb_southwark@RoseCllr@Jason_Ochere@AndySimmons10 @kieronjwilliams So Gails - where certain locals were asking neighbourhood police to help with the queues and sharing concerns re Covid spreading given number of people are claiming to be adversely affected by the timed restrictions?
@DulwichReopen @mattRey79 @DulwichCleanAir@lb_southwark@RoseCllr@Jason_Ochere@AndySimmons10 @kieronjwilliams And so just to close the loop on this ‘membership’. You represent all businesses in dulwich village except redemption roasters and heritage cheese and they are all ‘adversely affected by road closures’ and you’ve backed this up by data for all ?
@DulwichReopen @mattRey79 @DulwichCleanAir@lb_southwark@RoseCllr@Jason_Ochere@AndySimmons10 @kieronjwilliams Interesting wording. Guess that 95% of businesses adversely affected is different from 95% of businesses? Generally chains don’t get involved in this so 95% of all is already not feasible. Then you have the new businesses just opening- seems unlikely they would be anti!
@ConnellanTim @ioisours@RM_Leeming@DulwichCleanAir By ‘cycled’ Tim actually means he drove there on his moped! He’s often confused about the difference
The planters on Melbourne Grove South are keeping *thousands* of people walking & cycling safe each day.
Over 2,400 people have been recorded in a recent #ActiveTravel count (7am-7pm).
#KeepThePlanters to lock-in the safety & active travel benefits @RoseCllr @kieronjwilliams
@marksandspencer@EdstnStreets Or just speak to the store manager? Staff parking in that bay isn’t new. Southwark should enforce the restrictions but you could set clear expectations @marksandspencer
