We are now at the sewing stage 💃!
This morning, our participants started assembling the sanitary pads by organizing the neatly cut fabrics and learning the different types of permanent stitches required to sew the pads together professionally.
#ReusableSanitaryPadProduction
At Girls’ Pride Gambia, a period-friendly Gambia means empowering adolescent girls with the knowledge and skills to manage their menstrual hygiene. By teaching them to make their own sanitary pads from locally available materials, we enable them to take control of their health.
Our Funneh board game is all about bringing taboo topics to the table in a fun and safe way! Let's keep the conversations rolling and empower our school kids to speak up about important issues (Periods,FGM,Child Marriage,SGBV) together.
#EducationAndEmpowerment#FunnehBoardGame
School boys in LRR are diving into Home Science class by learning how to make handmade reusable pads for their sisters to manage their periods with dignity. Let's support & encourage male involvement in SRH projects & eradicate period poverty in Gambia.

Majority of our participants had the opportunity to see and feel tampons for the first time. They were also introduced to different disposable products (disposable pads and tampons) available in their communities, how to use them, and the proper disposal methods. @gymobilization
Distance could be a major factor for some women and girls when it comes to getting access to sanitary products. Our team visited some female students who live in Gambia College Basse campus in URR. They were trained on MHHM and provided with reusable pads. @gymobilization
One of the major challenges at Sheikh Uthaymeen Madrassa Boarding School is blockage in their sewage systems due to disposable sanitary products used by girls during their periods.
To address the problem, our team provided reusable pads for their girls.@gymobilization@pad_drive
Adolescents have special sexual and reproductive health needs whether or not they are sexually active. Providing access to comprehensive sexuality education means empowering young people to know and exercise their rights.

We are fighting period poverty and SGBV through Project Thrive. An initiative that provides MHHM training and a kit of 5 reusable cloth pads for women and girls from low income families in The Gambia. This phase targets women and girls who live in boarding schools.@gymobilization
The issue of period poverty is of great concern. It’s a barrier to the educational process of girls. Every month, more than 3 girls in all classes missed school due to lack of pads during their periods. The government need to step in to end #periodpoverty.
