@solarfish30 1. No, you've got your fried potato linguistics wrong (US fries are often called UK chips; US chips are UK crisps).
2. I kept the word 'fries' because UK chips are always thicker and often less crisp at the edges, and I'm sure you of all people agree this is a notable distinction
@anahitrooz Yes. Surprisingly, my other business is selling sets that look like bookshops for Instagrammers to use, but weirdly people keep trying to buy books from the shelves. I don't know what to do.
(Hmu if you need to talk accounting systems, by the way. I get the stress.)
@anahitrooz Also I want you to know that I see my typo in 'shops'. The problem with constantly hiring English grads is the endless fear of them all noticing my typos.
@anahitrooz For years I ran the shops accounting via FreeAgent. I absolutely loved them (and they are a local Edinburgh company!) and they are set up for sole traders/freelancers. I had to switch to Xero recently because our business is complex, but I miss FreeAgent. Strong recommendation.
@mariaelenactq I don't know about that specifically, but I do know that private businesses have to have private rubbish collection so it could well be shops on the Royal Mile paying for extra waste uplift so they don't have rubbish in front of their business.
@StaceyHunterEdi Hello! (I think we met in person a million years ago.) I recently had to take Megabus from Edinburgh to Dundee and it was shockingly clean and comfortable. (There were even USB charging ports.)
@AmandaSmithSays I am obviously not a doctor but my gastrointestinal system is a clinically diagnosed nightmare, so I *am* experienced.
I wish you a compliant intestinal life.
@AmandaSmithSays Oh! Good you haven't lost money on it.
For what it's worth, simple elimination diet tests can help. (E.g., record food and symptoms in a journal, then trying to keep your diet otherwise consistent avoid X food for a week, review journal.) It's cheap, at least.
@AmandaSmithSays (Which is to say I'd probably decline the test AND avoid the nutritionist. It all reads like woo red flags to me, though I'd be happy to be proven wrong with science.)
@AmandaSmithSays I would be asking a *lot* of questions before trusting someone to check food sensitivities by faecal analysis. E.g., are you meant to eat certain foods before the test? How long before? What are they looking for? The concept smells off to me & not just because it's actually shit.
@anahitrooz This Spring...Anahit Behrooz IS...The Skinny.
Hands-down the best star rating I've seen. Saw it on the screen and screamed 'OMG I KNOW HER'. (Apparently there's also a film or something. Unclear. I'm here for the critics.)
@_FredCarter @Amy_De_Ath @sitainshort Not exactly the assignment @sitainshort & @_FredCarter , but if you want to hear a bit from trans young people themselves you could do worse than starting here: https://t.co/rkKelXqGGD
There are certainly one or two opinions on the process contained therein...
@ThatOtherHannah Alternatively I recommend wearing whatever is clean and comfortable and protesting anyone who doesn't accept that 'professional clothing' is inherently misogynistic (and usually ableist, too).
@ThatOtherHannah In my friendly (and very, very much non-workplace) capacity, I thought I'd share this in case you hadn't seen it: https://t.co/qSQ1lTKpZ0
I don't have any personal experience with it, but it does seem designed to address exactly your frustration.
Good luck and Godspeed.
