At least for the comments I've seen on the film, people are not “getting off” as you say. Many stem from whether the messaging resonated and the film's budget presenting execution challenges. Particularly for families of victims and those with first- or second-hand experience with unchecked crime, I could see why an alternative would resonate. However, it sounds like it doesn’t for you, and that’s okay.
While this comment string originated under a post on Citizen Vigilante, it is not uncommon for there to be a disparity in critic and audience ratings even for non-controversial films. This film may or may not be “objectively bad.” I haven’t seen it yet, so I don’t have an informed opinion, but to say that anyone who rated this particular film highly has a problem as a person is rather closed-minded.
I watch films for entertainment and don’t watch a lot of them. Critic rating, like audience ratings, contain bias usually from shared industry views, cultural leanings, or groupthink. With something like Citizen Vigilante, the big gap between the two makes you wonder why it exists. I haven’t seen it yet, but the difference is interesting to think about.
@biggtimemunch@EndWokeness I agree, there is definitely a bias among those who watch and rate movies, but when I look up ratings for a film, I'm usually trying to see if it's worth watching. The audience rating has generally been a better representation for me than the critics' rating.
Throw the book at her. She broke into the guy's house to spin a narrative and get views. He would likely be in jail wrongly for her false accusations if he did not have the Ring camera to provide proof of his innocence. Arguably she should be charged with more than what she already is.

@CollinRugg I hadn’t heard of the artist before the Super Bowl. I gave the performance about 20-30 seconds, but since it was entirely in Spanish, I switched channels. I get the push to expand the international fan base, but it just wasn’t my cup of tea.
