Physicist in Si radiation hardness, luminosity measurements, dark matter, dark energy and generic exotic BSM searches with mono/dijets at the ATLAS detector
2025 is the first year in history that UK PhD stipend is below full-time minimum wage takehome pay, and based on published estimates 2026 will be even worse.
@Skeleman71 @MyFaceIsAToliet @AZebraMostBias What in the world do you consider a small farm? There are around 100,000 farms worth more than £1M in the UK. You honestly think there are 100,000 large farms in the UK? What a ridiculous claim.
@IceyJones1974@MattB_M2M You can very clearly see the bend of the LHC at this scale. This is a photograph of a straight section. It looks straight because it is straight, not because of the scale.
@Jeemie4043@MattB_M2M "...but you also see a lot of straight shots that are actually curved also"
No. The straight shots you see of the LHC *are* straight. The LHC is made up of a combination of many straight sections and many curved sections. The curved sections are visibly curved.
@StartsWithABang It's not the case that a circular lepton collider is worse than a linear lepton collider in every way, in fact for most measurements (especially almost all Standard Model measurements) a circular lepton collider makes vastly more precise measurements.
@MailOnline Photons are not used as they are much more difficult to accelerate and they don't collide much.
"CERN researchers put three beams of protons into the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), "
The LHC has two beams not three.
@Debriefmedia This article is completely incorrect. The LHC isn't even going to be on on April the 8th and the LHC has collided protons many many times since 2022.
