No. This is the 4th industrial revolution now. The careerism game is over. You will no longer be an employee. Employees are too expensive and are heavy burdens. You must pivot to a contractor if you want to have temporary gigs. No one cares if you have a gap between gigs, they just care about your credentials and portfolio. So, the calculus for climbing corporate ladders is gone and replaced by a new harder thing.
