Sources: The #Cowboys and star DL Quinnen Williams have agreed to terms on a 3-year, $105.9M extension to make him one of the highest-paid DLs.

Mason McTavish looks like a player preparing to rewrite his career.

The 23-year-old never fully became the franchise centre Anaheim expected after selecting him third overall in 2021. He showed flashes of power, skill and scoring ability, but his development stalled inside a Ducks organization that struggled to take the next step.

Now he has a new team, a new environment and a very different opportunity.

St. Louis paid a serious price to acquire McTavish, sending two first-round picks to Anaheim. That kind of investment means the Blues are not viewing him as a reclamation project. They believe he can still become a foundational piece.

His latest offseason training photos only add to the intrigue.

McTavish looks stronger, leaner and more physically imposing as he prepares for his first season in St. Louis. The NHL itself highlighted the workout images this week, putting more attention on a player entering a defining chapter of his career.

The talent was never the real question.

The question was whether Anaheim was the right place for him to unlock it.

Now McTavish gets a clean slate, while the Blues get a former third-overall pick who appears determined to prove his best hockey is still ahead.

This does not look like another offseason workout.

It looks like the beginning of a comeback.
