The value of competing in sport is not in winning, losing, earning a scholarship or getting to play in college or professionally. The value of sport is in the development of discipline, grit, facing adversity, habits and a growth mindset. Use the game; don’t let the game use you!
Starter or role player. Varsity or JV. Practice, scrimmage, or game. Exhibition or playoffs. Doesn’t matter. The mindset never changes: Prepare. Compete. Dominate. Circumstances don’t dictate your standard or your preparation, your habits, and your mindset do. Every. Single. Day.
Harry Boyce, long-time director of the Team 1848 club program, is the new varsity boys' basketball coach at Providence Academy in Green Bay. Providence had been in a co-op with Green Bay NEW Lutheran in the past, but will have its own team in 2025-26.
