This assignment really showed me how reliant I am on technology. With my computer I spent long periods in my room something I couldn't stand without my computer. Even my brother remarked that "I was finally out of my room." #eme4390m2021
While I was bored without my games and videos I did find I was able to learn more about what my family was up to. I typically was focused on my phone so seeing how much no technology made a difference was actually a bit refreshing. #eme4390m2021
Another thing I noted during the challenge was how much I kept looking and checking my phone even if I had turned it off. I really never noticed how obsessively I checked my phone for notification until I did this challenge. #eme4390m2021
Without access to my phone and computer I was pretty bored and I couldn't really read on my phone as I used to. I ended up looking at my paperback books which I did find nice since I've ended up relying on my phone reading. #eme4390m2021
Finally completed the turn it off assignment. While it was definitely refreshing to experience I likely will never attempt this again if I don't have to. #eme4390m2021
For my fellow environmental activists out there, our friends at @CMAquarium are holding their monthly clean up at Lake Bellevue in Clearwater this Saturday! Sign-up and details: https://t.co/uRnvK0kf79 #eme4390m2021
Nice to hear about @CMAquarium new underwater viewing spot for their bottlenose dolphins opened a few months ago. The spring whale exhibit also sounds exciting. #CMAInspires#Dolphins#Florida#whales

Matthew, one of our resident pelicans, is named in honor of local fallen soldier & American hero, Matthew Sitton. He and his family hold a special place in our hearts and on Memorial Day, we honor his memory.
We work to give animals a second chance at life and provide a forever home to animals who have been deemed non-releasable. On June 4th shop at Vineyard Vines in Tampa and Sarasota from 2-5 and 20% of proceeds will be donated back to CMA!
This really goes to show how your data is being sold. Much can be discovered about you and the industry by companies just analyzing where you visit, a practice which while profitable is disturbing to hear about. #USFDigitalIdentity#eme4390m2021
In the article "Your Apps Know Where You Were Last Night, and They’re Not Keeping It Secret" by VALENTINO-DeVRIES, SINGER, KELLER and KROLIK D I will discuss a quote I found interesting. #USFDigitalIdentity#eme4390m2021
The quote is "companies sell, use or analyze the data to cater to advertisers, retail outlets and even hedge funds seeking insights into consumer behavior. It’s a hot market, with sales of location-targeted advertising reaching an estimated $21 billion this year."
Howard and Gardner touch on an important point on app reliance as we do not really know if an app is making the best decisions as its made by a app developer typically for a profit. Its also true most things don't need to be automated. #eme4390m2021#USFDigitalIdentity
From "Are apps becoming a human crutch?" Howard and Gardner, stated "We could rely on the designers of apps, assuming that they have made wise decisions about which operations should be automated and which should be left to our discretion." #eme4390m2021
This idea about depending on apps is a serious concern as you miss on certain life experiences. If you just let an app decide everything for you in life how are you going to make your own decisions in life. #eme4390m2021
In "Are apps becoming a human crutch?" by Howard and Gardner, stated "Such dependence can affect a whole raft of life decisions — where to go, with whom, when to stop or recompute." #USFDigitalIdentity#eme4390m2021
While great white pelicans are the second-largest pelican they are able to fly due to several of their bones being hollow as well as a fusion of their bones into single ossifications.
