In your 30yrs in Nigeria, the government subsidized your education and made it easy for you to earn the capital with which you embark on your 6yrs journey in the UK. The 30yrs in 9ja gave you a solid foundation upon which your growth in the UK was built.

You should be smart enough to know this but social media validation trumps intelligence most times.

Telling you that, if your wife earns N1m, and you earn N100k, and that you should give her N50k from it, is wisdom that many of you have failed to see the depth of its meaning & importance.

Is it 50k that would truly feed the wife, kids and handle the expenses?

The answer is no.

What he's saying is that you as the man should not feel entitled to your wife's money.

And that just because she's making way more than you're making, then you should relax and say she should take over from you as the provider.

He mentioned that giving your wife half of what you earn, despite her earning more, shows that you care.

And it shows that if you have more, you'd give.

Your wife will respect you better than the wife of a man who feels entitled to her money.

He's speaking wisdom.

You're the one that doesn't want to think, neither do you really have a full grasp of his message, even if you're a married man.

Lastly, there would surely be some imbalance or friction in a marriage where the wife earns more.

But a wise husband that is not greedy, will retain his position as the head of his home, for a much longer time, while he works harder to bridge the gap.

Firstly, as a man, you cannot put an end to lust but you can tame it to the highest levels.

Understanding what lust is and what causes it is a key first step. Many times, lust shows up when a man is idle, unfocused, or feeling lonely. When lust perceives that a man is in a state of nothingness or close to that, it gladly fills the void.

In taming it, a man has to learn to guard what he consumes. He has to be intentional about what he repeatedly watches, scrolls past or entertains. As the saying goes, the mind follows the eyes, and the eyes follow the habit.

But restraint is just a starting point. A man has to commit himself to work that keeps him busy, active and focused. Lust thrives in emptiness so a life with structure renders lust lifeless.

For me, keeping busy with deep and meaningful work helps all the time.
