If you drive, it's the same cost if you leave now or in 15 minutes.

🧵(1) Imagine, you're a working class actor from Wigan, you pay for your flat by working at a coffee shop because it's the only job that will allow you time off for auditions. Every month you pay for classes, workshops and casting sites, and the call comes in, London, tomorrow.

A "fun" little detail on this hourly diesel train connecting four major cities is that it can't be any longer. We skimped on investment on stations along the route, cancelled big intercity investments that would have released capacity, so that's it. https://t.co/BqOsxYv6l9
Too often, rail companies make passengers feel like criminals for simple mistakes.

Whenever I have to buy olive oil, I am shocked by how much it's gone up in price since the last time I bought it.

@joshspero Big fan of this change! I'd be encouraged to pop by more. It forever frustrated me that when I was a Tate Member I couldn't enjoy it after work as it opened 9-5. I live in Sheffield now and I hope local arts institutions do similar.
Another day in the insanity that is the modern 🇬🇧 housing/rental market. News Agents’ colleague looking for a one bedroom flat in London- not only are the prices reliably around the £2k per month mark but such is the demand agents are demanding huge deposits without viewings.
Flying back from holiday in Romania I just read the eye-opening, at times brutal new @EndersAnalysis report about "the perfect storm engulfing local media". It's a brilliant, constructive analysis of "the single most important media in any well-functioning democracy". Threddd 🧵
