We dope kids up to get them to sit still to learn a bunch of useless or damaging nonsense, while not teaching what they really need to know.
We keep them from being active through crucial years of development.

Schools shouldn't have things like Prom or Homecoming. What's that have to do w/ learning?
You don't throw parties for students who can't do basic math or read at a proper level.
Students shouldn't know about their teachers' personal lives. Teach, that's it.
