While most of us are happy to help out our neighbours no matter where they’re from, Angus Taylor is pointing the finger at people we’ve proudly welcomed as part of our community for decades.
If we let politicians treat our neighbours as numbers, there’s no end to the division
David Shoebridge happens to be one of the finest, most decent, most principled politicians to set foot inside our federal parliament.
There are some very sad, delusional rusted-ons galloping to Labor's predictable call-to-arms and suddenly finding fault with Shoebridge's wife's property or his sock color or whether he uses Colgate toothpaste or whether he spoke to the right journalist that one time. Your slavish devotion to the cult and lack of critical thinking shows you up, nobody else.
You want action on climate change? A liveable planet? An end to billions of dollars wasted on AUKUS and forelock tugging to the USA? You want somebody - anybody - in federal parliament holding them to account?
Then spend your time and energy focusing on the enemy, instead of wasting bullets on your own troops.

International students (IS)/education brought~$55 billion to 2025 Australian economy.
55% from Goods & Services & 45% tuition fees.
They *Don't* take local student places.
LNP & ON want to reduce IS by ~40% = ~$22bill less for Australian economy & many local job losses. #Auspol
“As a Palestinian, I am the direct subject of Zionism. I’m an expert on it, in fact, because it is practised on my body”
Mohammed El-Kurd defines Zionism in under 5 minutes. He says everything that needs to be said👇
From 2023 to 2026, Google Earth's updated satellite imagery shows what's left of Gaza.
The images reflect what Human Rights Watch has already found: Israel has caused deliberate, widespread destruction throughout Gaza ⤵️
What I saw at the ABC:
I thought the cheerleading Australian reporting of the illegal US 2003 invasion, war, and occupation of Iraq was the biggest ever failure of media reporting.
I thought the lessons learned of the role of media in accepting and repeating fake narratives without evidence from our leaders, would lead to great introspection.
I thought this would lead to a journalistic commitment to never let it happen again.
I was wrong.
Gaza.

The Cornell story illustrates that rape is widespread, generally accepted and covered up in modern Western culture. It would be in an imperialist society based on raping and exploiting weaker societies.
Long story short: rape is a fundamental aspect/feature of Western culture.
Lachie Neale intentionally struck Jack Ginnivan in the stomach, off the ball, in the preliminary final. He got a one-match ban, meaning he'd miss the grand final.
At the Tribunal, his team argued his "exemplary record" should get him off. The Tribunal heard it, weighed it, and rejected it. The ban stood.
So they took the exact same argument to the Appeal Board. No new evidence. They didn't even dispute the strike. Same facts, same record, same plea. This time the "good bloke defence" worked. Ban overturned, $10,000 fine, and he plays.
Except his record isn't clean. He's been found guilty eight times before, three for striking opponents in the body. And nine other players were suspended for this exact offence this season. No pass for them. The star got one, in grand final week.
So what are kids learning? That who you are matters more than what you do. That if you're good enough, the rules bend. And if the first answer doesn't suit you, keep asking until you get one that does. This is moral relativism in action. The act didn't change. The finding didn't change. The evidence didn't change. The only thing that changed was how much the person who did it matters. Once right and wrong depend on who you are rather than what you did, there is no standard left, just a sliding scale that always tilts towards the powerful.
It's the same "good bloke" logic we've spent years fighting in courtrooms, where reputation and standing are used to soften consequences for harm.
And here's what moral relativism always hides: the standard doesn't disappear, it just shifts onto everyone else. Leniency for the powerful is paid for by harsher judgement of the powerless.
A rule that only applies to some people isn't a rule. It's a privilege. And yesterday the AFL told every kid watching exactly who that privilege is for.
Trump and Republicans are terrified of policies that curb their own wealth and power, and the wealth and power of the oligarchs that bankroll them.
That's why they're amping up the fearmongering about "socialism."
Penny Wong can say “different words” all she likes but John Pilger spent decades refusing that dodge: Wong’s reply - that “genocide” is just “a political point” and people use “different words” - is exactly the silence Pilger spent his career documenting + this history isn’t “from afar.”
Pilger's 2013 film Utopia (110 min, directed with Alan Lowery) is named after the Utopia homelands in the Northern Territory. Pilger returned there almost 30 years after his earlier film The Secret Country and found Aboriginal families still living in overcrowded asbestos shacks, with Third World disease rates, extreme incarceration, and deaths in custody.
The film covers the 2007 Intervention, mining wealth extracted from Aboriginal land, the lack of any treaty, and the transformation of Rottnest Island from a prison for Aboriginal people into a luxury resort that erases its history. Official description: it is “a rare and powerful insight into a secret Australia and breaks what amounts to a national silence about the indigenous first people.” It argues apartheid is “deep within Australia’s past and present.”
Pilger’s own words:
1) On the Rottnest prison: “Wrenched from their communities in an act of genocide that divided and emasculated the indigenous nations…”

2) On the film itself: “when my own film, Utopia, which told the story of the Australian genocide, sought a local distributor…”

3) On Rosalie Kunoth-Monks, who appears in the film: “She has described the legacies of a genocide: a word political Australia loathes and fears.”

Australia’s political lobbying rules are broken. Nearly two-thirds of registered lobbyists in Canberra are former government representatives - former ministers, advisers or party officials. These are people who’ve spent years building relationships and gathering knowledge on the public purse, and are now able to sell access to the highest bidder.
Next month, I’ll introduce my National Lobbying Act as part of an effort to put a stop to this and to clean up politics. It would create a lobbyist register capturing both in-house corporate lobbyists and industry associations, while also closing the revolving door through enforceable bans on former ministers cashing in on their contacts.
Australians don’t send politicians to Canberra to protect big coal, big gambling, or the big banks. They send us there to stand up for our communities and act in their best interests. It’s time to clean up politics.
Over $850,000 at the moment, plus free air fares and free travel. She and many others at the NACC seem to spend most of their time traveling around
In one year they spent almost $2 million on travel. They even have a full time person at the NACC to arrange all of their jetting around. They claim it all has something to do with "education and prevention"
All the senior managers and commissioners, like the amnesiac Ms Kilgour here, also have complimentary Qantas Chairman's Club membership, which is disgraceful in an organisation that is meant to be above repute and being coerced with expensive gifts
🚨Heartbreaking: A footage from Gaza, retrieved from the archives, showing Palestinian children at an elementary school before the Israeli genocide.
The children of Gaza have now been without education for a fourth consecutive year due to the ongoing genocidal war on Gaza. More than 20,000 students have been killed, 90% of Gaza’s schools have been partially or totally destroyed, and many of the remaining schools have been turned into shelters.
SHOCKING! #EdSheeran worth £420 Million sacked friend American rapper #Macklemore who he has know for 13 years for saying #FreePalestine.
Due to this COWARDLY act his own backing/other support groups resigned & people rightly so are cancelling #EdSheeran all over the World.
“Until the children of Gaza, the men and women of Palestine, can play sport freely at home, abroad, on the international stage, we should never engage with Israeli team or any other sports team. Until we get justice and freedom for Palestine.
