You would be mad if your favourite pub put a sign up saying โNo Disabled People Allowedโ but itโs fine for them to say that exact same thing with steps instead.
That said, Iโm touched that the general response of the other passengers was very supportive. One man said that if we donโt stand up for one personโs rights, who knows which rights will be violated next. He said any of us could break a leg one day and need a ramp to travel. 16/16
I faced major discrimination by @TfL staff at Wembley Central on Tuesday morning. Three men acted incredibly aggressively towards me and tried to prevent me from boarding a train in my wheelchair. ๐งต 1/16
So, during a week of difficult travel, disabled people are being told they canโt use a station which might be useful to them. Iโm disgusted by the behaviour of the people involved and very disappointed at @TfLโs response to the incident. 15/16
@Charliechatz1 โฆ saying that I had to either get the taxi or โsort things out with them.โ They refused to get the ramp out for my wheelchair or to allow other passengers to help despite it being clear discrimination. They were aggressive and awful about it. 2/2
@Charliechatz1 TFL booked me a taxi as a reasonable adjustment but it turns out the lift was repaired 2 weeks ago and they just havenโt updated their systems. They said theyโd cancel the taxi so that I could get the train but when it arrived, other TFL staff tried to stop me from boardingโฆ 1/2
