Parent involvement and communication with parents is something I’ve learnt more about this semester. I saw this on instagram and thought it was a quick, but effective way to inform parents about their child’s success. #acuedu_p
This week I’ve made up some ‘challenge cards’ to hopefully help my early finishers to stay on task as that has been a big issue in my class this term. Hoping this will help manage behaviour for students who finish tasks early as well 🤞🏼 #acuedu_p
Working closely revisiting SATPIN with our lower group of Kindergarten students this week. The emoji code reinforces the sound each letter makes whilst relating class work to the real world which we know is full of technology and emojis these days… #acuedu_p
Came across this idea on Instagram, I would have loved this in school. Being able to physically connect blocks to understand where the world came from is great! If I were to use it I’d use the same colour for each word, the different colours might get confusing! #acuedu_p
Having a word wall up in the classroom is an excellent way to help improve literacy skills! It also helps to encourage active student participation. #acuedu_p
To commemorate Holy Week, a great activity would be engaging students in daily scriptures that explore Jesus Christ's actions; and then re-enacting the stories to help students understand His experience, and recognise the importance in the Catholic tradition. #acuedu_p
An interesting method of managing classroom interruptions- students silently use hand signals to indicate what they need, and the teacher can simply nod yes or no. It avoids the verbal ‘I need to go to the toilet’ and the 100 other ‘me too’s that follow. #acuedu_p
Blends and digraphs! This recycled connect 4 game was a great way for my year 1 students to practice their digraphs and blends. Students build words using the counters and write them in their literacy books. The kids love it and it’s a great literacy rotation activity✏️ #ACUedu_p
The importance of fostering a growth mindset over a fixed mindset in the classroom is critical for student success. Students in Year 4 are working towards their learning goals by having a growth mindset to overcome challenges, improve and develop new ways of learning. #acuedu_p
Think Outside The Box Thursday was an engaging activity year 2 students from my first placement participated in. This activity promotes creativity and stimulates students' imagination. #acuedu_p
