@Ryan_M_McManus Interesting, thanks for this! If the models themselves are the same but the outputs are different, does the difference lie in how the outputs are viewed? E.g. summary(), anova() or Anova(type =2/type =3)?
I've never been a big fan of the "decline in sperm counts" hypothesis for various technical, statistical and methodical reasons, as I argued in my 2013 paper "Are sperm counts declining? Or did we just change our spectacles?"

Want to know the crazy sperm behavior inside the uterus? It turns out the sperm aggregate into clusters in vivo to drive oviductal entry! Started this exciting project 8 years ago, now finally finished by many excellent colleagues and collaborators! Read more👇👇👇
@LilithBurridge @TheNiceProf @OpenAcademics@AcademicChatter I’m from Australia and also feel like everyone here uses first names, other than maybe the very first email... can’t even imagine calling someone by their title on an ongoing basis!
I also had no idea until Twitter that this wasn’t the norm in most places...
@JustSartorio @_aodejesus@AcademicChatter Not to mention the amount of times I thought I'd identified that perfect, groundbreaking gap... only to reword the question or use a synonym and find it's already been done🙄
@JustSartorio @_aodejesus@AcademicChatter I love this! When I started I was given free reign to basically pick whatever I wanted to do, and in hindsight the first few ideas I brought back to my supervisors were ridiculously ambitious😂
@SBMost@AcademicChatter@PhDForum Additionally, questions were not at all common... In fact I could count on two hands how many questions were asked during lectures throughout three years of undergrad. Overall, not a significant point of difference!
@SBMost@AcademicChatter@PhDForum I actually found during undergrad that if I got distracted for a few minutes during an in-person lecture, I'd miss an important point and be put out for the rest of the lecture. At home, I'd have the discipline to rewind and make sure I took it all in... in the intended order.
@bradleygibeau @_DaniBeck None of my family went to uni and I completely agree! They ask how my exams went, what I'm doing over the 12-week semester break etc. My Mum can't understand how I've spent 40 hours a week for 2-3 months "picking a topic", i.e developing my proposal and designing experiments.😂
#Flashback to @SIRTnews postgrad student seminar night when I presented what I was hoping to achieve this year. Looking forward to next year when I can present my results on... a vaguely related project? #researchblues#ecrchat
Our latest paper is just out in @PNAS looking at the impact of paternal diet on offspring metabolic health via sperm and seminal plasma mechanisms https://t.co/6vMEvsPBiv

#JeanPurdy is forgotten no longer as #IVFis40, explains @connieorbach/@sciencemuseum.
Not just a lab technician turned scientific coauthor turned clinic founder, but effectively the world's first clinical embryologist & the world's first fertility nurse.

"For them [poorer kids], daily life holds fewer guarantees: There might be food in the pantry today, but there might not be tomorrow, so there is a risk that comes with waiting."
