Finding the @FTMag in the Scottish highland is not easy. After I explained this to the ladies in Laide post office, they left a note to the only person in the village who read the FT that I’d like her weekend copy. She returned it the next morning - minus the weekly recipe.
Really touching piece relevant to everyone with a local chippy (everyone). Also has me writhing in anticipation knowing that I’m bound for this part of Fife in a few weeks.
A year ago I saw a news item warning that half the UK’s fish and chip shops might close. I chose an area of excellence for the dish, the East Neuk of Fife, and hung around to see how they coped. It was a lot. Please read if you have time. Shop local. Tx

A few weeks ago, on a particularly sweaty Saturday and with the glaze of a couple beers and wines, I visited and reviewed two of London’s hottest restaurants. Here’s how it went:

I felt a certain way when I took this photo in Spain a week ago and I still feel it now. The petrol station sandwich is good and the second beer is too.
This is it, this is all there is. And it’s good.
Such an incredibly important read and worth picking up in print if you can. A genuinely astounding feat of journalism that made this morning’s train journey feel like a rocking boat.
Endless thanks to Ike, Andrew, Michael and Mario’s wife, Vilma.
And to the brilliant @mattvella and @miss_marriage for guiding me through another opus. To @samjoiner@emmalewis@inari_ta and team for bringing the fishermen's story to life.
Read in this weekend’s @FTMag.
5/5

I visited an underground bunker filled with fungi to try and find out what’s going on:

Dartmoor was the only National Park in England where wild camping was legal – until today, when a banker called #AlexanderDarwall, who bought an estate 10 yrs ago with his hedge fund profits, overturned that right with help from barrister Tim Morshead KC...
A lot of people are in outcry saying that the publishing of this article marks the death of Bon Appétit as a food magazine. Personally, I think this kind of gonzo-essay is the most exciting, compelling way to write about food.
