Letitia James and Jumaane Williams are pushing back on Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn's attempt to hold onto the leadership of the Brooklyn Dems, saying it "goes against what we believe in as Democrats."
This is a disgusting, desperate (and extremely obvious) power grab by Rodneyse to retain control of the Brooklyn Democratic Party, and anyone who stands by her while she pulls this shit is not worthy of our respect or votes moving forward.
Okay, I’ll define Woke 1 for everybody. In short:
—Trying to imposing ideological hegemony instead of material change
—An emphasis on discipline over persuasion
—An emphasis on expression over tactics
—An emphasis on identity over class
—Symbolic gestures as political action
It means the entire left-wing culture of self-righteous maximalism, moral accusation, and thought-destroying clichés that prevented and still prevent open dialogue about how the world actually operates and which agendas we should pursue. It deserves disparagement!
Lavender Law was amazing as always! It’s so invigorating to connect with all these other queer lawyers, and especially the other trans women lawyers from across the country. It was also fun to talk about the Pattie Gonia trademark case, which was a very hot topic!
Yay!!!! I can’t possibly express how much of an upgrade this is. Like on the level of going from Adams to Mamdani. Julio is an amazing person and will create a Brooklyn Democratic Party that is interested in bettering people’s lives, not just maintaining its own power
Brooklyn is going to have a new Democratic Party.
The Brooklyn Can’t Wait coalition of 22 incoming District Leaders have voted to nominate and elect District Leader @JulioPenaNY as Brooklyn Democratic Party Chair this coming September. 1/x
I’m saying DSA candidates shouldn’t run as democrats in Democrat primaries. let them run as a third party. Should an enviro-vegetarian party be allowed to run as republicans? Of course not. So why should a defund the police/abolish prisons/pro Jihadist party get to run as Democrats. It’s false advertising and copyright infringement.
I'm launching a podcast called District Twelve about the NY-12 race! You can check out my interviews with @GusSaltonstall , @JaimeBermanNY , and Daniel Marks Cohen here:

NYU Langone capitulating to the Trump regime's bigotry and discrimination is unlawful, unethical, and unacceptable.
Transgender care is health care and, here in NY, every trans person is legally entitled to the health care they deserve—period.
I strongly condemn NYU Langone for denying trans youth their legal right to gender affirming care. My wife is an NYU Nurse who works with trans patients. I know first hand that this care is the difference between life and death. Shame on NYU for capitulating to fascism.
Here's the thing: Jay doesn't get to decide who represents the Democratic Party and who doesn't. That's (supposedly) up to the State Committee that he oversees. Maybe he should gather NYC Committee members & let us weigh in...but that's too Democratic for Jay.
Almost every single state that banned trans people from playing sports went on to ban healthcare for trans youth. This issue is a trojan horse meant to codify the otherness of trans people into state law.
