When is a fire door not a fire door? When it's ajar 🔥❌
Fire doors can only keep us safe when properly maintained and closed. If you recognise it, report it!

Today we remember all those who lost their lives, or were impacted mentally or physically by the tragic events that took place on the 11th of September 2001.
I’ll have a special thought today for the @FDNY and the 343 firefighters who lost their life that day.
We join the whole fire services community - and people across the world - in remembering all those firefighters and members of the public who lost their lives in the 9/11 attacks in New York 22 years ago today. #September11
30 years ago today I stepped through the door @DerbyshireFRS and joined WR66. What a journey it’s been so far. The best job, working with fantastic people across the Service (past and present), our partners and our communities. Couldn’t have done it without all your support 🚒🙏
Save the date! 🔔‼️‼️🔔

The firefighters killed in the line of duty yesterday in Newark, New Jersey have been named as Augusto Acabou aged 45, and Wayne Brooks Jr aged 49.
Both firefighters were long serving and experienced firefighters, who sadly became trapped by the blaze whilst attending to a fire onboard the ship Grande Costa D'Avorio.
It is now reported the fire broke out in a vehicle storage area within the ship, and spread to 5-7 vehicles upon arrival of fire crews, this rapidly spread to the 11th and 12th floors of the ship.
As stated yesterday the ship was carrying over 1,200 new and used vehicles, and 157 containers, the ships operator Grimaldi Group has already stated no electric vehicles or hazardous goods were onboard.
3 other Newark Fire Department firefighters were hospitalised for burns to feet, exhaustion and difficulty breathing, 2 members of neighbouring Elizabeth Fire Department who responded under mutual aid were also hospitalised for smoke inhalation.
I hope all of the injured firefighters make a full and speedy recovery, and again my thoughts are firmly with the family, friends and colleagues of firefighters Augusto Acabou and Wayne Brooks Jr.
