I've spent the last three months building a tool to simulate best ball tournaments. I used it to simulate 1000 seasons, 12K teams each. A total of 12 million teams.
This is my first article analyzing that dataset. Check it out!
WR Early and Often Has Dominated Best Ball Mania But Is That a Historical Fluke? Simulating Thousands of Seasons and Millions of Teams to Find the Answer https://t.co/EM8gNTsKbN
@statsowar@DropbackHQ Can you explain why you consider a data pipeline the last mile? To me, that’s the foundational layer. Pulling everything into a data lake is step one.
Ryan Day voiced support for the NCAA potentially adopting a mandatory two-year commitment for student-athletes before they’re allowed to enter the transfer portal. https://t.co/aKFCYrYKyR
@DavisMattek McDaniel is a "players not plays" kind of coach. Njoku signing only hurts Gadsden is McDaniel believes Njoku is a good player that deserves touches.
I think the route/snap stuff is a bit overblown in a McDaniel offense.
@startkyIeorton I think it’s just that people in NFL front offices need to keep up the illusion that they’re particularly skilled evaluators in order to justify their jobs.
You can’t tell an owner that the consensus board is better than your own board. Won’t fly.
Most teams can’t acknowledge the power of the consensus board because it calls into question the investment they’ve made in scouting/evaluation.
You’d need a very data-oriented owner to understand how the consensus board has power and so does an individual scout.
Could be done by Percy the Octopus, the point is when the NFL reaches BIG relative to it, the Octopus board is right most of the time.
We get caught up in who makes the consensus board and miss the point that it's fairly irrelevant. We can track who's right when it disagrees.
Wouldn’t you expect every team to walk away from the draft feeling like they got a bunch of steals based on their own board?
You take the guy highest on your board. Unless everyone has the same board as you, you’re always getting a value.
Interesting nugget: The Giants had fifth overall pick Arvell Reese as the top player on their draft board, carrying an even grade with new Cardinal RB Jeremiyah Love. Their new RG Francis Mauigoa was fourth.
@RyanJ_Heath The idea that #4 this year is not the same as #4 in other years is the IKB.
I don’t disagree, the IKB is probably correct. I just think it’s a dangerous game to play.
Do you think that sources have to leak some extra special info to get the mouthpieces to tweet something that’s obviously untrue?
Maybe they told Rap the top 5 on their big board or something in exchange?
The new meta for prospects will be a full-blown marketing campaign in the weeks leading up to the draft.
We're already seeing some of this, but it could go a lot further with the amount of money on the line on draft night.
Idk who Jordyn Tyson's agent is, but he is very smart for making him to do that workout. Its the last thing GMs are going to see before the draft and today he's the number 1 WR according to Mel Kiper. Incredible marketing strategy
@DynastyZoltanFF It gives some good insight into how he thinks about his game. Carnell Tate would never post something like this. He’s about the craft.
