@P_AllensProfile with one and it shatters in their gut >:)" and it's like, they just replaced something fun with something that's more unrealistic, but also exceptionally lame.
@P_AllensProfile 1/ This one's kinda abstract so bare with me; I don't really have a way to coherently phrase this thought.
Saw someone one time saying "ugh I hate the way people show katanas in things, blocking bullets with them is so unrealistic. In my fic I have someone try to block a bullet
Which game benefited from critical perspective after being remade?
This is wishful thinking, MGS3 & RE4 went from most beloved games to outdated simply because gamers found something that suits their modern expectation more.
Their legacy is erased rather than innovated upon.
Alright, I think I know what's going on with my channel and what I can do to fix it. At least in broad conceptual terms. I'll take a break from video production to tackle it soon.
I've set the underperforming shorts and videos to private. But I want 'em to be seen so...
@Niflheimm155983 I mean... that's an insanely meaningful distinction. It's the difference between an actor still reading from the script and a full-blown in-character improvisation... and having the scaffolding to continue to do that on new projects.
It's only for stuff where the text needs to be displayed right over it (I introduced a visible ticking clock element over powerups in Hope of the Red City and liked the results.)
Most things that need to will just draw the text directly to the GUI.
Got text to draw in 3D. Can't do my usual outline method since that causes crazy zfighting with all the different text instances being drawn.
What I've got here might not be the most forward thinking solution, but I do think that with a text colour variable it won't be too bad.
Black will do most of the time since I'll pretty rarely have stages where there's enough dark space to obscure it. But I do play around with colour sometimes so who knows.
@SandyofCthulhu Is it fair to blame all societal ills on people not being able to say "zombie" in movies? Probably not. But we have that to thank on the shortbus of focus testers bought in who went "durr it ruins my immersion when they say zombie having them saying "walkers" is better."
Pro Tips after 45 years of doing games.
1) If they say, "We don't need a contract." You need a contract.
2) If they ask, "Don't you trust us." Don't trust them.
3) Never take advice from a focus group. They're only there for the free sandwiches.
Note: I am aware that these tips may work in other industries as well, but since I've only done games in my whole career, I'm not sure how much this is true.
Tell me! Or give me cautionary tales.
