@jonahblake @BossierNoah @brycent There’s a revenue model for each. No one is reinventing the wheel. But to your point, Web3 development barely exists. The next few years will be crucial to determine its overall viability.
Forte acquired Phoenix Labs over a year ago and now PL has massive layoffs & cancels its game projects (apparently some were set to be announced next month).
Forte will have burned through $100 million with no games and no workable platform. Web3 initiatives still struggling.
Major layoffs at Fae Farm, Dauntless dev Phoenix Labs today. Two sources said over 100 people have been impacted. On LinkedIn, a former worker said all in development games have been cancelled, including one about to be announced. Devastating news — so sorry to those impacted.
@jonahblake @BossierNoah @brycent lol this has some truth, but most web2 developers at least have the prospect of launching a game with a shot at a proven revenue model. Premium vs. live service vs. budget self contained experience is a simpler approach than tokenomics/minting/renting/marketplace chain issues
@BossierNoah @brycent@jonahblake It really does. It honestly sounds like most big money is abandoning web3 gaming. I know that some efforts are ongoing but almost every web3 developer is on life support.
@YourLocalTaxGuy Many of these guys are leaving for the right reasons too; e.g, Chad Linberg graduating and heading to Rice University for that elite MBA.
I agree with every single word.
Dean will eventually have an episode on the Eavesdrop/Around the Bar that will blow everyone’s mind. Native Gaming deserves a much larger audience. It will get there.
There is no better person at the helm of an esports org than @DerangedNative
You don't even know how much he does for the the people at Native behind the scenes. Genuinely the most humble and caring CEO in esports, and it's not even close.
This is the last lovey-dovey tweet you'll see from me so bookmark it. Or don't. I don't care.
