Had a friend today (who doesn’t know my dad) ask me if I wanted to talk about him/my caregiving for him when we were catching up. Def was a lightbulb moment for me that I’d like to share more about. A 🧵:
It may seem superficial, but I think I’m now of the opinion that it’s more
Grateful for this. It’s far too late, but I’ll also celebrate any potential progress towards our incarcerated neighbors getting treated with more dignity and respect.
"Today, Jennifer Clemons-Abdullah’s employment with the City of St. Louis was separated effective immediately. Tammy Ross is currently acting as the Commissioner of Corrections."
“President Green hasn’t been shy in her criticism about the City Justice Center’s management or about calling for a change in its leadership. Our office believes the new Commissioner of Corrections needs to prioritize the safety, dignity, and rights of those awaiting trial and ensure there is meaningful collaboration between the CJC and the Detention Facilities Oversight Board.”
This quote is attributable to President Megan Green’s spokesperson, Yusuf Daneshyar.
The 7,309 Vote Majority: How Republicans won the closest House majority in decades
Democrats' 3 closest losses (IA1, CO8, PA7) were by just 7,309 votes.
Out of 147,675,540 House votes nationwide, that's just 0.005% - smallest share since at least 1994.

Fact: in 2024, the House majority was decided by just 7,309 votes across three districts (#IA01, #CO08 and #PA07) out of 148 million votes cast nationwide.
At @FCCStLouis we’ve been organizing with the families and people detained at CJC.
They’ve been clear about what they wanted. We gathered what we heard in this letter addressed to @saintlouismayor and @saintlouispres.
Folks have noted ad infinitum just how MASSIVELY WI Dems outperform its demographics.
Super white, rural, & non-college, yet Dems hold its rurals to merely ~R+20 - a margin unmatched in the Midwest.
Probable that WI Dem machinery plays a BIG role in keeping them competitive.
Pretty amazing that the House (likely 220R-215D) would have flipped to Dems this year while the White House/Senate flipped to the GOP, had it not been for Rs winning a majority on the NC Supreme Court in 2022, allowing GOP legislators to redraw three Dem seats into oblivion.
One wild aspect of elected office is way Republicans use LGBTQ politicians as a confessional booth.
Nearly every day in Montana, Republicans would apologize for their votes, tell me they wish the culture war would move on, etc.
But rarely would they actually change their vote.
The medical examiner has yet to release details about how Antonio Weber died on Nov. 9, underscoring what activists describe as a pattern of opacity surrounding deaths at the facility. https://t.co/Y7jEd11ety
Protest have broken out at St. Louis City Hall. Signs hung over Aldermen chambers reading “NO JAIL DEATHS,” as protesters march around City Hall Rotunda chanting. @kmoxnews
NEW: Trump selects Russ Vought, architect of Project 2025 chapter, to lead White House budget office
Vought has:
- Asserted presidential authorities to unilaterally claw back spending, w/o Congress
- Said "we are living in a post-Constitutional time"
- Has crafted plans for Trump to deploy the military to quash civil unrest and seize more control over the Justice Department
- Aggressive proponent of using "Schedule F" to strip protections from much of the federal workforce

I understand downtown business associations are offering to match many millions for the rams $ to go downtown.
Question.
If they have millions to spend downtown why don’t they do that. And the rams $ can go someplace that doesn’t already have millions to spare?
@Harvatin@saintlouispres@AlderSonnier FWIW, Alisha mentioned that the mayor’s office showed up in good faith to negotiations on this bill, so while I’m always very ready to criticize any chief executive (mayor, governor, president), I have to give the mayor her due on this one, too.
By amending the City’s zoning code we can make the process for opening shelters and transitional homes clearer, a crucial step in reducing our unhoused population.
