I talk about NBA/Utah Jazz and Tabletop Gaming. If you follow me for one thing and my tweet seems weird, then I’m probably talking about the other thing.
@JazzHighNotes2 I honestly think your team might be WAY better, but I’m excited to finally have seen an 82-0 happen just barely I have to share. Was not expecting it.
I just went 82-0, think you can go 82-0?
Play 82-0: https://t.co/a0EwtEomhY
@BattleCattleFan I don’t know how much the FO wants to pay, but I would guess that they would be just fine with 25-30m. Walker is really good.
The reason they didn’t last year is because of how cap space rules work. Not because they don’t like Walker.
Signing him this year for that amount works
@getsit@ArtTakesNote Half that would be incredible!
Also, I think both Jazz FO and Kessler’s agent are smart enough to look at what Chet did and realize he sucked and that that kind of performance isn’t worth that kind of money.
@SpencerKeele Either DP or AJ would at least be cool with Utah. And you have 7 years to convince them to like it even more and stay longer.
I think either one is just as likely to stay or leave as the other after 7 years. So just pick the best player!
@getsit@jsjjazzfan78 It’s crazy. Walker takes a year off and people forget how good he is.
Walker was #1 in the league in offensive rebounds per game! #2 in blocks per game!
He is legitimately one of the best young centers out there.
And should come back even better!
Looks like 3-point might be real
@jsjjazzfan78@getsit Most contenders don’t have much flexibility left. That’s just nature of the NBA.
Jazz are getting ready to move from the tons of flexibility part of the rebuild to the “less flexibility, but much more competitive team” part of the rebuild.
@JazzHighNotes2 Here’s the breakdown of changes for anyone who doesn’t understand the new system.
-Bottom 3 teams don’t take anymore.
-Instead, now teams 5-16 tank way more.
-The 4th worst team can get the 16th pick.
-The 16th team can get 1st pick.
-Adam Silver has godlike powers now.
@JazzHighNotes2 That’s not a great situation. Overpaying can lead to problems of having to trade players later just to get under.
But I’d still rather do that, then let people walk for free if we can help it.
@JazzHighNotes2 My thought is: If other teams are offering that much him, then sounds like he’s a pretty desirable player.
So in theory, that should make it easier to trade if you need to.
Even if we had to sign at something like 32 now. You can always trade someone later to get back under tax
@JazzHighNotes2 Definitely. Overpaying is detrimental. No argument there.
I just think letting good players go for free is such bad asset management, that can be even more detrimental.
Obviously best solution is just sign for a nice reasonable number!
@JazzHighNotes2 I don’t think so.
Obviously that’s a huge amount. But if it’s higher than you want, you’re still better off signing him and trading for value vs walking for free.
Walker is a really good player. You should either keep good players on your team. Or get value back for trading them
@Callystarr@CJRealHoops2 Even if we assume he never gets any 3-point shot, He’s still just such a lob threat that he still provides vertical spacing.
I think it’s still going to be good to have him.
@JazzHighNotes2 This definitely seems like the most fair trade proposal I have seen. By a lot!
That said, I agree with Bryson that even so, it still almost certainly doesn’t happen. But this would be a fair version of that trade if it somehow did.
@jazzbeargryllz Oh man, you’re right! I didn’t even realize.
Well, I’d still say that number is more likely for someone new to get than any of the other ones..
Or they can choose between 18 and 25 and keep it going on either end!
