@RealColoradoMan We have some oddities today in that they don't follow the normal red/blue pattern. KY and KS have Democratic governors and VT having a Republican governor are the oddest ones in my opinion.
@WannabeAnglican This is how, according to their beliefs page: "We are connected with the worldwide Anglican Communion through our Pastor’s ordination."
@SharpFootball I really enjoy when in a new place, especially a new country, seeing the mundane places. Trying local restaurants, grocery stores, shopping, etc. It's always a lot of fun in small ways.
@sarahlol1863603 I saw an advertisement in the Philippines suggesting to go to Guam to shop "tax free" with a picture of a Ross Dress for Less in a shopping center. Keep in mind the Philippines has lots of really nice malls.
@ShawnMathis1972 Every time I see Gallup polling about the PCA, I think it must be a mix of PC(USA) and PCA folks who are confused about which is which.
@RScottClark It's still good advice once you're in a Reformed church. I've seen too many people "hop" from one NAPARC church to another over small issues, even in an area where there aren't all that many options.
While this questionably true (see the Governor of Oklahoma), it is remarkable that we first got a native American Vice President, Charles Curtis. He grew up on a Kaw Nation reservation (although he was also multiracial).
@em_Lazzy The Bushes get the short end of this. One son gets to be just his middle initial, "W". The next, only a nickname -- Jeb!
Meanwhile, we also have Pelosi and Warren as well as those so famous they can go by their initials like AOC and MTG.
As the definition of "ministry" has expanded, the ordinary means of grace conveyed in public worship of the gathered church have suffered. The loss of the evening worship service exemplifies this.
An evening worship service is advisable even from a strictly pragmatic perspective. It's a powerful outreach tool and a great on-ramp for those considering the Reformed faith, and as more people work on Sundays, the evening service becomes even more important to church members.
@presbycast My "take" is that baptism should get you wet even if pouring or sprinkling is the mode (which it should be). Some baptisms seem like just a few drops of water. Baptizo still means to wash.
@JeremiahW2044 I live in Fayette County, which is the closest county to Atlanta still red, but I think it will turn blue soon. I think there are changing demographics, but also I think MAGA style Republicans don't appeal to suburbanites as much here. I know I feel disaffected.
@ShawnMathis1972 We've got a few in our ARP presbytery (TN, GA, and AL). I don't know the history of how they came to us. The Northeast Presbytery has many Korean churches, and even does a lot of business bilingually.
