A 4.8 Trillion Budget: How will it Impact the People?
Yesterday, TI-Kenya, together with members of the Okoa Uchumi Coalition, released a statement raising serious concerns over the proposed FY 2026/27 budget and the Draft Finance Bill 2026
We are witnessing a terrifying contradiction: a government exceeding its own budget even as basic services rapidly decline.

📢 At the convening on reshaping an African feminist agenda to end gender-based violence, we asked a powerful question: What issue affecting women and girls remains under-highlighted?
🎤The responses were honest, urgent, and deeply reflective — from mental health and economic violence to femicide, digital harm, unpaid care work, and the realities facing women in rural and marginalized communities.
📽️This reel captures voices that are pushing us to look beyond the headlines and confront the issues that are too often ignored.
What do you think is still being left out of conversations on gender justice and ending GBV? What realities are women and girls still carrying in silence?

This is something that North Eastern ever witnessed. A brand new stadium. Madaraka Day in Wajir since Kenya was born. A momentous occasion. One that will forever be etched in memory of many in NE. Kenya. Thank you President @WilliamsRuto for remembering the ‘forgotten’ land.
ELOG's Executive Director Mulle Musau had a meeting with @irck_info Director Linus to explore partnership opportunities ahead of next year’s elections.
The discussion focused on collaboration around civic engagement, peaceful participation, combating misinformation, and strengthening public trust in the electoral process.
Partnerships between faith-based institutions and civic actors will be key in promoting credible, inclusive, and peaceful elections in Kenya.

School meals matter, here is why:
📚Gives parents incentives to keep children in school
✍️Allows children to focus
🎒Increase attendance and reduce drop-out
🍛Supports children’s health & wellbeing.
For the first time in years, @WFP is complementing government-led school meals programmes in Wajir and Marsabit counties to improve children’s access to nutritious food and support school attendance and learning.
School meals enhance learning. 🍲📚 For many Somali children, a daily meal means focus, attendance, and hope.
I strongly believe that investing in school meals is investing in education and also the
future of Somali.
Budget Talks That Matter! Youth and Community Voices Step In.
On 18th April 2026, @Mwarpkenya convened a vibrant pre–public participation dialogue bringing together civil society representatives from Lungalunga Sub-County at Kanana Social Hall. The session created a powerful space for #women, #youth, and #community members to engage with the FY 2026/2027 draft budget and ensure their #voices count.
Participants reviewed ward-level #allocations, highlighting the need for clearer #project details, fair distribution of #resources, and stronger alignment with real community #priorities. While noting progress in improved budget structure, concerns were raised on overdependence on national funding and the need for more sustainable local #revenue solutions.
The conversation also emphasized the importance of #gender -responsive budgeting, calling for #inclusive spaces that support women’s #participation and address challenges like #unpaid care work.
Key takeaway: Communities are ready, aware, and demanding budgets that truly reflect their #needs.
