These "smart" materials deserve an A+! @UMNews, @PNNLab & @UWMadison researchers developed a better way to make very thin layers of perovskite oxide semiconductors. These smart materials could potentially be used in sensors and electronics: https://t.co/ZZRvXmoVE9
Thrilled and proud to share that my student Sreejith Nair has been awarded the MRS Gold Graduate Student Award at the 2025 MRS Spring Meeting!
Well done Sreejith, and many congratulations!! @UMNCSE@UMNews

✨Crystal Sheets with 5 mins Vanish 🌀
This research focuses on the synthesis of perovskite membranes using binary oxide sacrificial layers. @JalanMbeLab, @shivasheesh99 and colleagues use hybrid molecular beam epitaxy to grow SrTiO3 membranes using SrO, BaO, and Ba1-xCaxO sacrificial layers. Their results highlight single crystalline growth of SrTiO3 on these binary oxide sacrificial layers, which are significantly faster to dissolve in water - within 5 mins! They also show bulk-like structural and dielectric properties in SrTiO3 membranes transferred on Au-coated Si substrates.
