We have seen how the left behaves when it thinks it can get away with violence: the 1970s were studded by thousands of bombings, hundreds of shootouts, and dozens of dead cops and bankers murdered by wannabe communist insurrectionaries and black nationalists

And then Carter, Reagan, and Clinton ensured that nearly all of the perpetrators went unpunished, leading them to think they can get away with it

Hence the present. They believe they can get away with murder, or at leas that their networks of footsoldiers, NGOs, lawyers, and donors won't be crushed. That can't be the case a second time
