@XJarowey@DropTheDie It's not a biological thing, it's cultural. An 18 year old elf is going to look like an 18 year old human, but, when compared to the older elves, their perspective is going to seem childish.
@HN2DM The only time I do this is when lowering an enemy's HP or DMG, since stripping down is far easier than building up. If my players are genuinely having some bad luck, then it might turn around during the next fight.
Even then, if I had to, it would be HP and not straight DMG.
@mmelas74@illinaryplayer0@SageAdviceDnD@JeremyECrawford Misty Step (2nd level) can be used to escape a Wall of Force (5th level), and so can Dimension Door (4th level). I would consider that if a player spent one of their possible ability score increases for a permanent feat on their character, they should be able to use it, full stop
@mmelas74@illinaryplayer0@SageAdviceDnD@JeremyECrawford ... So my ruling would be that, since it's a player ability and doesn't have a clear way of giving that speed back to you (added to the fact that there's no status effect given,) Sentinel would not be affected by Freedom of Movement.
@mmelas74@illinaryplayer0@SageAdviceDnD@JeremyECrawford I think it's best to think of this outside of rules and game vocabulary: when you're shackled or grappled, you can be freed by opening the restriction; however, when you're hit by the Sentinel feat, it just drops to zero. No status effect whatsoever...
@mattcolville Like with any other skill, I ask my players what they're looking for before giving them an answer. How they go about finding what they're looking for changes the answer. I always find the flippant "I roll for insight" quite passive, and I prefer my players getting more involved.
@ConanOBrien I think they require more testing before they come to any meaningful conclusions. That's not even mentioning that the data relies on which side of the tongue you're using, the velocity of its whip, and how long it is pressed upon the controller.
