Coaching is about making your own job obsolete. Good coaches foster independence. We should be working towards having our athlete be self-sufficient, with our role as simply course correcting the ship as it goes
Can a ruptured ACL heal?
Yes it can! People with ACL healing on MRI reported better 2 year outcomes than those with no ACL healing, and those treated with early or delayed ACL reconstruction!

DISCIPLINE IS A WAY OF LIFE
This entire clip from Coach Saban is pure gold. Discipline is everything. Every player should watch this clip understanding how they do drills in practice, how they warm up, or do anything is a mentality. It can't be turned on or off.
Show up
Work hard
Strive for consistency over perfection
Find joy in the activity itself
Go on the journey with friends
Play the long game, instead of chasing short term results
Do that and you'll end up pretty dang good at whatever it is you are doing.

There are no magical workouts.
Everything works and doesn't.
It's about applying the right stimulus for the desired adaptation at the right time.
Figure out what sort of adaptation you are after. Then, determine the appropriate stimulus for that adaptation.
Tendons LOVE load (bodyweight, dumbbells, kettlebells, barbells, literally any kind of weight).
Tendons don't need MORE ice, tape, rest, massage, needles, bands, straps.
Are you having tendon pain?
LOAD the tendon.
When your sport requires high levels of both speed and endurance
You cannot operate on a model that largely emphasizes one side and expect consistent conditioning outcomes,
Because there will be big differences in athlete training response.
Instead...

No training prescription framework covers all bases
• Anaerobic speed/power reserve (intensities beyond VO2max)
• Critical power (steady state vs non steady state domain)
• 5-zone threshold training (intensities below VO2max)
Use the principles to develop a toolbox.
How accurate is this?
The most risky profile a field based athlete can have is excessive speed and propulsive capabilities relative to their braking and speed control skills
I've noticed the athletes who train on their own, in a commercial gym setting, lack power. They train slowly and with outdated bodybuilding methods.
They struggle to move with power in exercises like cleans, jumps, throws, etc.
Bigger is not stronger. Stronger is stronger.
The vast majority of hard workouts should be about a 7 or 8 out of 10.
Have another rep in the tank.
Going to complete exhaustion looks great on Instagram. But it isn't best for your long term performance.
Save the max efforts for race day.
The strength of a team or organizations culture isn’t revealed in times of success. It’s revealed in times of adversity. Under challenging circumstances teams with strong cultures come together. Teams with weaker cultures become divided and blame each other.
I have never met a successful person or a high performing organization that drove average standards. Only those who are willing to commit themselves to excellence on a daily basis succeed. High standards aren't for everyone, then again excellence isn't for everyone either🎯
In toxic cultures, people get promoted for results even if they destroy relationships. Abuse is a price to pay for high performance.
In healthy cultures, no level of individual excellence justifies undermining people. You’re not a high performer if you don't elevate others.
If all we see is:
• VO2max
• Running economy
• Critical speed
There is lots we overlook ⬇️.
Principle:
Think in speed and endurance continuums,
Rather than training models, methods and protocols.
