Here is the outcome of my 10-year journey in the Change of Direction and Agility Space
Want to impact performance and reduce ACL injury risk?
Here you go:
I was asked by the Wall Street Journal yesterday how @tkelce "plays faster." I have been sharing it and everything for the last 8 years. Appropriate "Game Speeds," body positions, and foot placementsbcreate the best ways to change directions FASTER and "play faster."
Netflix told writers to have characters announce what they're doing to deal with divided attention.
Writing is doing the same. Short. Punchy. Every paragraph three lines. Designed for skimming.
I call it Instagram writing. And it comes with a cost: https://t.co/vukOmAcUC3
Patrick Collison's advice to people in their 20s: find where the highest standards are, and go experience them firsthand.
"When I talk to people in other domains, this is so frequently the thing that I hear from them."
"That when they worked with X person or Y organization or in Z environment, they learned what great actually is, and that just permanently changed their sense for what their own standard for their work ought to be."
"Maybe one version of what people in their twenties should do is... figure out, where can you learn the highest standards? Where are the highest standards embodied, and where can you go and experience that firsthand?"

All roads lead back to 9 PM bed time, 5 AM wake up, 4 hours of deep, focused work creative work first thing, leaving your notifications off, work out mid day to break it up, admin & calls in the afternoon, hang with friends and loved ones in the evening, repeat forever.
Lazy work used to mean too little output.
Now, with AI, it often means too much and more work for everyone else.
@tobi call it "slop grenades."
A "Slop Grenade" is when you let AI produce the work and pass it on without adding any value (including checking it).
Someone else has to wade through it, catch the mistakes, and clean up the mess.
You save time and look productive but someone else pays for it.
1. Does Reactive Strength Index Ratio provide useful information beyond height and contact time considered separately.
Fifty one athletes, examine the relationship between CT, Ht, RSI and Velocity.
@adaptskill@CoachRC23 But as previous, its nuance for the specific task and a need to challenge assumptions IMO - but just stimulating thoughts - hope you’re enjoying them 😂
@adaptskill@CoachRC23 I like CST but I don’t see it = never broken down, just it has to eventually spend time whole again & the relationships between parts appreciated as 🔑 If adapt a part, be very aware that you don’t know how the syst will change based on it
Lots of research supporting part prac
@CoachRC23@adaptskill what % diff will it make to the particular purpose this has?
Maybe what is gained by adding more representative constraints and vis info - creates a net -ve elsewhere in the system? I.e stress on other people, risk, distraction from the primary goal.
@CoachRC23@adaptskill Yes 100% agree and this is where I align much more. And I think taking this stance is the key to reconciliation.
But convos are almost always visual dominant, and it’s made out that the vis/other person perception is much more influential that it is in many actions IMO
@CoachRC23@coachhockley@adaptskill That is the interpretation that I and many other people have about the way it is proposed. ED right, everything else wrong
[Oh look at x drill, it doesn’t have representative vis percept - look how useless it is]
Interesting when I don’t even think the evidence is always there
@CoachRC23@coachhockley@adaptskill I get this and I’m not saying you explicitly say that. But as someone who has observed the ED movement for 10years, had many conversations and uses lots of ED concepts…
@CoachRC23@adaptskill Do you think learning to drive a car has ecological validity to learning to perform high intensity actions in sport?
One is sat down, with basic limb mov
The other is a whole body action against gravity with a ton of perceptual/vestibular inputs
That’s the important nuance
@adaptskill Dude, you just ‘believe whatever you want man, lol’d me when I simply stated a diff perspective with some pretty sound reasoning and basic questions that you can’t answer
I wasn’t even directly talking about you, but more the ED message. But yeah, enjoy
